'03 Europa for Sale
« on: April 03, 2009, 11:39:04 AM »
I'm selling my '03 Europa.  Why?  It's not that I don't like it, I do.  I just don't play it that much anymore - the Signature electronics and Essence electronics I have my Dragon's Wing, SC Sig Std, and Essence are more suited to what I do.  Rather than have it sit unplayed, I figured I'd offer it up to a club member who'll give it the love it deserves.

It is in mint condition - no nicks, dings, etc.  Case is near mint and has all the case candy.  Here's the deets:

Top: 3A Quilted Maple
Finish: Wineburst
Accent Wood: Purpleheart/Maple (can't see it due to the finish)
Body: Mahogany
Neck: Maple/2 Purpleheart
Fingerboard: Ebony with Mother of Pearl Opals
Veneers: Maple
Electronics: Europa
Machine Heads: Gold Gotoh
LEDs: Side LEDs in Amber
S/N: 03U13112
Birthdate: 8/27/03

You can see a pic of it here: http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/13699.html?1098986827.  I'll try to post some more later.

One of these new is above $9K list; with dealer discounts I'm guessing it would go for $6K or more new.  My price is $4500.  I will entertain offers.  Payment can be PayPal, Cashier's Check, Postal Money Order.  Once I receive payment I will ship the bass.  Buyer pays shipping of $50.  I'd like to sell this in the Continental U.S., and I'm willing to drive 50-75 miles to do an in person transaction if anyone is so inclined.

Again, this thing is in new condition.  If you're looking for a Europa in outstanding condition, this may be the one.

Thanks,

Alan

I have seen this bass in person and it is perfect! It is one of the main reasons I bought a Europa myself.

I've played this one myself. It is a very nice bass. If it wasn't for the fact I have a Series 1 on order I would make an offer.

Guys,

Thanks for the props.  My guess is that at some point another Europa is in my future, but with Signature electronics.

Al, ever thought about sending it in to the Mudda Ship to add another filter and Q switch to it?

Adam,

Not sure if it would fit - the control cavity is busy already as it is.  Plus it has the BCB and TCB switches - the Sig electronics are pan, filter/Q-switch X 2, and volume.  I'd more than likely end up having the TCB and BCB in addition to anything that they could do, which is more than I need.  I guess I'd have to see what's possible, but at this point I think I'd rather sell her and save to buy another with Sig electronics.

Thanks,

Al

Damn that was quick! Alan if you look in the showcase section there's a Wenge Rogue which has had the pre amp upgraded with filter and Q switch. It should fit but it's a little late now is'nt it?

Yes, that's my Rogue that has the upgraded electronics in it. http://club.alembic.com/Images/394/58482.html?1226620145
It has both the Signature double filters & Q's AND the BCB/TCB switches, which I love! However, I enquired about getting my other Rogue upgraded to the same electronics and found out that it replacing the current electronics (except the BCB/TCB switches) with the Signature electronics. That's $1150 retail just for the parts - a bit much for me right now.

Alan-

I got the bass yesterday and man!!!!!!!!!!  I love this thing.  Gawn damn I love Alembics and specifically, I just love the Europa design so much...  This bass is a great addition to my other Europa's and just looks and plays amazing, and of course sounds great too.  The wineburst finish is really, really cool and the thing just feels so great.  Thanks again for the deal.

Andy,

I'm glad she arrived safe and sound, that you're enjoying her.  She's a great bass, but like I said when I posted the ad, I wasn't playing her much as the Signature and Essence electronics are more me.

Thank you for the effortless transaction.  Enjoy her as I did.

Best regards,

Alan
