Time to thin the herd
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:23:06 AM »
I have unfortunately come in to having to pay many thousands of clams ($$$$.$$) to the Vet for saving my Saint Bernard's life this week so i must part with some things. I have a few vintage Guild Starfire's , a '88 Persuader (walnut top) serial #88P4929(she's been played hard over the years but not trashed i paid $1200.00) Also I might need to part with my '89 Distillate i bought from Dannobasso serial #89D5675. One fender made SWR super redhead, a Epiphone Allen Woody sig bass, some various EBS pedals(Octobass,Envelopefilter). I love my basses and gear but i love my dogs more as they are my children. Pm me for details as i am open to negotiation. I'll try to post pics if i can figure it out (dumbass on a computer) and i'm still not sure which Guilds i want to part with, yet. Pics and serial #'s to come, all my guilds are in very good shape with original Hagstrom single coils, most are single p/u... Thanks...Bear

Thanks Ben I noticed you live in co and are a rider. Makes 2 of us. Been 13 years since I started riding, What is your business called. I took a course from a gentleman years ago to give myself a fighting chance against the 4-wheelers, was it you?Go 4 it or some thing??? Sorry my memory sucks. Yeah i'd sell the bike but I laid her down in august in a rainstorm up by my house in conifer. :-( Been a tough summer. One thing i did take to heart or head from that gentleman was wear a freakin helmet! First thing to hit the pavement. Saved my life so i could be here to save my dog Juniper. Peace all. Bear

If that's the Distillate 5, I might be interested if you decide you need to part with it. I know how you feel, though. We lost a 16 year old cat at the start of the year and the 12 year old has been in for three sets of antibiotics this year with a couple sets of expensive tests and x-rays. Medical care for loved pets can get stupid expensive.

Hey Bob yes unfortunately that is the Walnut Distillate 5 Danno used to own. I had hoped not to sell it but hey that's just the way the dog toy bounces. I also wanted to get rid of a couple of guilds but i had to reeducate myself as to current prices(i didn't do enough research and priced them to high.) I am trying to get what i paid Danno For the Distillate as it is mint almost, and the Guilds well we'll just see if they go anywhere. I wish i could figure out how to post a pic of my dog but alas Apple smarter than Bear.....Peace...Bear

Hey Bear,
I'm interested in your pedals as well as a few other things. You got any photos of your herd?
In addition, I own 3 Llasa Apso's and a 1/2 sheppard,1/2 boxer and I do love them very much!

I've put down my 15 Y/O G Shepherd 5 months ago (hips, what else eh?) and my 14.5 Y/O Doberman girldog three weeks ago. She couldn't walk anymore or get up unassisted. We spent $2400 on her 14 months ago and are glad of it. She missed her big brother bad and I think that contributed to the decline. Can't do another dog for awhile. Just can't. Good for you giving yer old friend a few more years. It's worth it.

Thanks Dave. This seems like Friendly folks here. I need to get smartened up on what all these models are. Like what's an '88 Persuader? I think the Spoiler is a short scale eh? Big Smitty has an Elan that I like. I've only just begun thinking about bass. I've played guitar (poorly) for 53 years. I saw a bass player ;o) with a guy named Chic in the '70s and never recovered.

Hi Smokinbear,
Are either of your Alembics still for sale?  Pics and prices would be much appreciated.

Sorry all I have been super busy workin. I will try again to post pics if i can figure out how to shrink them. The Distillate 5 i would like to see $2500 for and the Persuader $900. The Distillate is mint and the Persuader is well used.    Bear
