Testing the waters: #75 241
« on: August 20, 2010, 04:28:46 PM »
Just testing the waters here on this great, very unique instrument.

Some fairly major expenses are going to be coming my way in the next year or so, and I need to get my finances in order before they get here.

Say hello to #75 241.

http://www.elderly.com/vintage/items/55U-3408.htm

I bought this about two years ago from a fellow board member.  Its a cool instrument to have around, but these days Im just not doing enough playing to be able justify keeping it.

Ive played around with it a little bit, and have found some great tones with it.

Other than a very small chip in the finish on the peghead that exposes the bare wood, there are no issues with this bass that I am aware of.  It comes with the 5 pin cable and the blue box.

There is no hard shell case for it.  It came shipped to me in a well padded softcase.

Price is pretty firm at $5300.00, shipped fedex overnight anywhere in the lower 48.  If a buyer wants it shipped in a hardshell case they can either send a case to me and I will ship it in that, or I will try and find a case that fits at the buyers expense.

Wow is right!  I am hesitant to let her got, thats why Im just trying to see what the interest is at the price I set.  Thats pretty much what I got it for, and I think it is a fair price.

Here is a link to a zipped file where I described the controls as best I could.  It is in iworks pages format.  I had trouble posting it here.

I tried opening the file with my old version of keynote, but no luck.  Is there anyway you can copy the text from keynote and then just paste it into the post?

It's a killer bass- makes me really want to work on my fretless chops!

oh my, those controls are incredible, i bet you get ANY sound out of her, just a thought, maybe the control that doesn't do a lot could be a mellow filter? well no matter what it is that's an awesome looking bass, i wonder if Alembic would even make something like that now

Now I have to get by with my normal series 1 and 2 knowing that there are alembics out there with more electronics to play with

Great bass - would be tempting if I was in the states.

Hey Mike

There are a couple of people that contacted me ahead of you, so to be fair if I decide I really want to go through with this right now, Ive got to offer it up to them first to be fair.

As far as trades go, Im really up to my ears in music gear right now (probably going to be listing more stuff) and since it does not look like I'll be doing much playing for the foreseeable future Im really not interested in taking on more stuff..

Also, not to be a tease but please keep in mind this thread was started mainly to see what level of interest there would be for this instrument...Im not 100% sure I am willing to part with this just yet.

Too bad I missed the boat on this one. I was considering it even when it was back at elderly ( where it sat for like two years ). If the other deals fall through let me know.
