'92 Essence 5 for sale in Europe
« on: June 10, 2010, 05:01:42 AM »
Hi folks,

A friend of mine has a sweet maple-bodied '92 Essence 5 for sale. The bass is in Poland but he's willing to ship anywhere in Europe. The asking price is 2420 EUR.

Here are some photos of the beauty:

Wow that is lovely. Does the price include shipping? If not, how much would it be shipped to London? Not sure I can afford it, will have to do my sums first.

PS, I saw this bass a couple of months back on the UK bass blog, BassChat. The owner was listed as macieq and in Poland. Is this the same person (I presume so)?

Actually, by all means answer about shipping for the benefit of other Alembic Club members reading this, but having checked money this is a bit out of reach for me right now. Good luck to your friend with the sale of this lovely looking bass.

Mark - I know both the bass's owner and a guy nicknamed Macieq - they are 2 entirely different persons, although they know each other from a Polish bass forum :-)

As for the shipping - I'll ask but actually I doubt that. However, I think some things are negotiable.

Actually I think I'm going to pass here. I would rather be able to kick the tyres at that price. Best of luck to your friend with his sale.

A small update:

Macieq listed that bass on BassChat UK because the real owner doesn't speak fluent English. But yes, this is the same bass. The price on BassChat was higher because Macieq wanted to earn a bit as a middleman...

Here are 2 sound samples my friend recorded (with open and closed filter) to show how the bass sits in the mix:

Don't suppose he wants to do a trade plus cash top-up from me for an immaculate fretless '76 Fender Precision (I paid ?1600, about Euro 1900, for this a few months ago at Vintage & Rare Guitars in London - its still shown on their website!). Here's a pic of it with a 70s style tort s/p I had made for it (I have the black original s/p).

Oops pic was removed as being too large - here's one from V&R website then with the original black scratchplate

Clarky - that's a beautiful bass indeed but the Essence's owner doesn't need a fretless atm... :-(
