1970's Era Alembic?
« on: June 02, 2009, 09:57:26 AM »
I was searching the net for info on Llove Entertainment Center in Dallas (1970's hang out at Love Field) and came across this photo.
Pretty interesting,

I remember those hanging on the wall to the right when you entered the old  60 Brady St. location. The  Instruments were on the  right and the  glass counter on the  left.  LOL ______      Cool Pic.

I own that bass now.  It is pictured with the original owner Gerald.  I am still in touch with him too.

That bass got a soaking in hurricane Katrina.  Here is link to a pic of it pre-Katrina:

Hello Sir, I was at the Mother Ship not long  ago and was given a tour of the  wood shop area .There was a Bass there that was pointed out to me as having  been a victim of Katrina perhaps it was this bass.

Wolf: that was indeed Michael's bass.

Michael:  Any decisions on the fate of Katrina's most outstanding laminated victim?  I too often notice it when I stop in at Alembic from time to time.

Bill, tgo

The bass at Alembic is not the same bass as the one in this thread. The one at Alembic is serial number 30.  The one pictured above is serial number 47.  I had multiple Alembics ruined by that flood.

I am not real sure what is happening with the bass that Alembic is currently working on.  I have not spoke to anyone at Alembic about it in a year or more.  The last I heard they were still dismantling it, and figuring out what to do.  I am sure it will always show it's battle scars, but I would be pleased if they can get it in playable condition again.  It was in real bad shape after the flood.

I would love to see pics of it's progress.  Bill, if you see it again check it out and let me know how it's looking.

Thats ironic Michael. I played at that venue in the photo back in 77 or so at a battle of the bands sponsored by a local radio station. I was about 15 at the time. I found these pix on internet doing a search for that venue, Llove Entertainment Complex.
Looking at the photo Gerald couldn't have been much older than me at the time.

Once they figure out what to do, I'm hoping they start a FtoC thread about the repair. That would be an interesting piece of history to watch.
