I know the story of how Phil got the Ritter. I just don't agree with his choice, for sound reasons alone, and am greatly relieved he's returned to his Modulus Q6 for live shows.
(Most) Ritters are beautiful and sound amazing. Body style of Phil's Ritter is not at all to my liking, but why should he care what I or anyone think about that?
The real problem is, at least when I saw him play it live several times, that particular Ritter has almost no low end. The midrange is gorgeous and twangy, but I was just not getting that chest thump, even up close in the Phil Zone.
At an outdoor Phil and Friends show in Philly a few years ago, the subwoofers from a nearby disco were louder than Phil's bass. True story.
The guy from moe. has a more conventional Ritter 5-string, with a AAAAAAAAAAAA curly maple top and seismic low end. Wonder what happened with Phil's bass? or maybe it's the way he had his rig set? any thoughts, Deadheads?
