FS: Mark King signature, long scale 4 string
« on: October 07, 2006, 02:15:03 AM »
Hi,

Despite its great sound, playability and great features, I'm selling this bass for the simple reason that I can't get a dirty Fender JB sound out of it. Unluckily I can't afford to have multiple instruments, so this one has to go.

- 2002 4 string long scale Mark King signature standard bass
- Coco bolo top
- omega cutout
- maple accent
- mahogany body
- maple neck with walnut pinstripes
- ebony fretboard
- perloid oval inlays
- side leds in red
- bronze logo
- satin neck
- completed 11/20/02

This bass will be shipped in the original case.

More pics and info available at request.

To European buyers: This bass is located in The Netherlands.
Price: about 3500 euros.

Thanks,
Cor

With all respect, I had similar thoughts about my alembic guitar. I got frustrated for a while trying to get my Orion guitar to give me the dirty warm sound that I could get from my strat.

But then I thought why should I expect to get a dirty Fender sound from an instrument that has designed from day one to be clean sounding?

Now I've just accepted the signal won't dirty up in my effects chain like a strat will. But I've managed to get a sound I can work with, and I use my fender for really dirty stuff.

All the best with the sale anyway, I hope it goes to a good home. I doub't  you will have problems selling it as we are kind of starved for instruments like this over this side of the pond.

Jazzyvee,

Thanks for encouragement. Unfortunately I was stupid enough to sell a fine 70's JazzBass 2 years ago, raaahhh!
Anyway, this certainly is a great instrument and I'm sure it will find its way to a new owner.

Not yet, but I played it live a few times and I like it a lot better than my ex 5 string Fender Jazz. If you'd like to try it your always welcome at my Place. I'm selling my Catalyst and Gibson because I need more amp power. The Alembics are always my first choice, so I'm looking for the best way to project these pieces of art to the audience. I did offer my Catalyst and Gibson to Corny, but he is looking for something else....
Good luck Cor!

Cheers,
Flip
