Persuader 87 PJ Coco Bolo
« on: March 08, 2006, 03:45:21 PM »
Hello,

I am very new and this is my first post. I have just registered as I have an Alembic Persuader 87 PJ Coco Bolo. It is a fantastic Bass indeed, but I am looking for a deal against an Alembic with soap bar pickups, preferably Fat Boys, but will consider MXYs. I will need a narrow neck, I do no want something like an Orion, Epic or any of those with a wider neck. Short/Long scale, either would do. I am not too fussy about the condition look or finish, as long at the neck is in good condition an there are no major problems, playability is much more important to me then the look. I do not have photos yet, but I am anticipating, in case someone is up for a deal...

So, if one of you girls/guys are looking for a persuader like the one I have, please let me know. I am not really interested in selling it, I would  prefer a deal, either straight swap or part ex
depending on what you are offering.

In case there are any Japanese Aria SB admirers, I do have one which is immaculate in condition, I might put it on ebay at some stage. I do love Aria SBs myself, I do have a couple of them. I could include it as part of a deal as well/instead of extra cash, for the right Alembic.

Thanks to everyone for reading, and I keep finger crossed.
BTW: I am in the UK, and would limit the deal to the UK preferably in London, so we could meet up and inspect/compare our little babies, and not have any surprises.

Thanks,
LG

PS: Sorry to start my very first post like so;) there will be more to  come hopefully...

A little amendment to my previous post, regarding the pickups I meant AXYs or similarly shaped (or Fat Boys), NOT MXYs in fact.

Thanks,
LG

I mentioned that I had a highly  collectable Aria SB and I enclose a picture, I have strung it personally with a set of TIs Flats, the sound and playability is quite amazing, and as you can see on the picture, the Bass looks quite amazing for roughly twenty years of age... I don't have a picture of my Persuader yet, but will take one as soon as someone is interested.

I think you have a better chance of getting someone interested if you put up the pic.  You might also post a serial number as buyers often want to check the build records of potential instruments.

I know, thanks. I just don't have much time right now, but I will eventually.

I have finally posted some photos of my persuader:

I hope that someone will be interested to trade an Alembic with soap bar against mine, I could add cash and/or my Aria SB for the right Alembic. Thanks, LG

BTW: I am in London/UK and not a rich man, this is why I am doing this, otherwise I would keep my Basses without hesitation.

Hello lg71
Have you still got the Persuader? I'm afraid I don't have anything to trade  but would be maybe be interested in buying it if you should decide to sell it. I am looking to buy my first Alembic. I am in Gloucestershire UK.
    Cheers  Paul

Hi Paul,
You might be lucky, it went back to the shop I got it from originally http://www.thebassgallery.com/ in London.

I'd tell you what happened briefly...
I part exchanged this Alembic with a JD Supernatural (bought from the Bass Cellar in London) + cash, the JD was then put for sale on the Bass Gallery website, its original owner recognized it as being its own Bass that was stolen a year ago when his house was burgled... So the police came with the original  owner and took the JD away. So, I had to return the Alembic, and got my added cash refunded, and then had to get the money back for the JD from the Bass Cellar, I have been waiting for over a month to speak to the boss... latest news, I am supposed to get full refund tomorrow. Will see + let you know...

As for the Persuader, it is a fantastic Bass and I would strongly recommend it to you, I have tried every Alembic they had/have in the shop, and I still preferred the Persuader. The only thing, is that I really wanted Fatboy pickups, I like to rest my thumb on the wider pickups, which I found more comfortable with soap bar type pickups, and I don't play with a pick. Just a personal preference.

If you want you can call the Bass cellar tomorrow, ask to speak to Martin (the Boss) or Alex on my behalf (Louis), they will confirm the crazy story  as well.

Thanks for asking,
LG
