Price? It's pretty much priceless to me, but I will entertain serious offers quite a bit under the one on eBay a while back that had a start price of $6,500. Hey, it ain't that priceless!

Contact is tshaw@maine.rr.com I will answer sensible questions. Bass is in prime condition, and sits in it case under my bed every winter. No cracks, at all. It is a beatiful bass, and it would break my heart to part with it. It is totally silent is all I know about upgrades of its electronics, except I know it went back to the shop for a bad pickup (s?) at one time. I am the third owner. I have a letter of its history from the original owner and have the contact info for the second. This is just a classic Alembic bass, period. Calzone 1/2 Touring flight case goes with it. Original 'heavy gauge' cable and as-new rack power supply? Maybe, maybe not. Entice me.

I have found something worth more than this incredible bass to me, and I could use the money to help take care of expenses involved. That info in itself, should let most of you know 'the basis' of why I am considering selling my most prized possession.

It is tax season and I am very rushed. I will answer all questions sent, except why I am selling her (I might not!), Sunday. 85 hour weeks leave me little other time, sorry.

Hey Bill, I might be selling for the only 'good' reason I believe there is, when it comes to these basses. I looked for an S II like this one for three years before I bought it, and price was not the factor for its purchases. Omega cut S II basses are rare, indeed, especially as beautiful and in as good of condition as this one is.

Winter blues? Naw, Bob. Spring fevor meybe. I think I finally am in the right state of mind, for a change. How are you doing? Did your custom arrive yet? I have been in India, so I have not been around for a while and am way behind in my reading. If it is in hand, I hope it is all you hoped for!

People have asked the price range I am looking for. I am not hard up to sell this beauty, it is a logical process that is being considered. Good guideline, if interested, is that the first digit would have to be a 4 for me to give an offer serious thought. I believe I could get $4,500 on eBay and possibly higher - I would sell it during prime refund time, if I went that route. However, I would rather see a member here get it, as I do care for this bass on a personal level. This is not something anyone needs to rush on, as I will wait a month or two on serious people, for them to save a bit up, if necessary. I would want steady payments to keep it off the market, though. The nice guy I bought this from did that for me, so I am willing to pass his kindness on in turn.
Hey Shawn. Why not sell my SI - 71-150 in steady? I know you like light basses, and this bass is light, petite, and still has a great series sound that comes out of it. OK, I'll consider it. If anyone sees anything else on these pages, make an offer, and the worste that would happen is that I politely say no thank you, if the offer seems too low. A lot of the vintage stuff will probably be offed on eBay, but I will keep at least one prime Sunn (entwhistle fans?) or Dual Showman and my Les Paul, for sentimental reasons.

The S II is a 34 scale, and the SI is a 30.75 scale. I am very fond of the SI, so though it needs to be refinished, it will not go for a song, either. I get a kick out of the fact it is listed on Simm's site, and I am almost sure it is the first Alembic her has put side and front LEDS on. Note: LEDs are blue, and if you are looking for flash on-stage, these do the job nicely. Flight case and original blue case go with it, but the bass would ship in the flight case. I do not want to see any Alembic damaged in shipping - what a waste!

While I am at it, for anyone silly enough to want a non-Alembic: From an old post: "SN #635 Tobias Signature five-string with an omega cut. The asymmetrical neck is truly great." This is the rare beauty I bought from Steve Wood, upstanding member of this club. He loved the neck on it so much (It is a work of art), he sent it to Alembic to copy it for a custom order, and I believe they keep the measurements on record for him there, for future orders. This bass is rare, as it is an early model with an omega cut, and a top-of-the-line signature model. The zebrawood of the body is especially beautiful and book matched. I will consiser serious offers over/equal to $2,500. Note that this is the same range as I would consider for the SI. Minty condition flight case goes with it. Here are some small shots of it. I will send large shots of anything that someone might be seriously interested in.

The same payment arrangement for the S II would apply to these, if a serious person needed it, and of course deals can be discussed for lots. Now you guys and gals just rush those offers into me today! However, I am in a hurry on none of this. So take your time, if interested. Ask questions. Get huge pictures of me that show tiny specks of lint on the stuff. It is important that both buyer and seller are satisfied with any deals that are made with me.

Oh, one last thing before I get onto more important things in my bit of off time this weekend (I said I was not in a hurry to sell), please put Alembic, or Tobias (Name I will recognize), or something in the Subject of your e-mail, as I get a bucket full of junk mail daily, and something important to you might end up in cyberspace, deleted as junk mail. I would feel bad, but only if I knew it was gone . . .

Unfortunately, I'm out of the running on the Series 2 (damn, damn, damn), but I'll e-mail you later tonight about the Series 1. It's looking more and more like I'll be offing my old Walter Woods amp (sigh), so I should be able to make you a nice offer.

Hey Shawn: Porsche? Been there, done that when I was living in Germany a decade or two ago and loved it. Paris Hilton? I would not bother. Any current McDonald's employee has more sophistication, and could maybe get you some free fries. I would like to see you get the SI, as it fits your needs, and I bet you want your flight case back, eh? I have had a few offers on my basses. I have gotten some sleep, and I might have made it sound like I am trying to get 'top dollar' for these instruments. This is not the case. I have a figure in mind for each. As soon as someone hits that figure, I will e-mail or call him or her up and conclude the deal over the phone, their choice. I did not mean for it to read like a bidding auction deal. None will go for a song, nor will any go for top dollar. All will go to good homes, or not at all.

In time, there will be an eleven-year-old boy running around my house. I decided it is best to spend the next decade ensuring his future, and not dabbling with my hobbies. I am saving a prime, vintage amp and bass for him. Most of the other gear will have to go, as I need the room, too. Just clarifying for those who might wonder why the garage sale is going on. Can you legally keep kids in a garage? We need a ruling Bill! Maybe I do have the needed room . . . OK, I almost have a decent portion of my brain working temporarily. Well, until next week starts, anyway. Scuse all the misspelling previously, but I forgive myself this time of the year. Let them all stay to proclaim that I am burnt and proud to be a working-class slob!

Hey Guys:

Series II Classic Omega Cut Walnut Wonder
Final Done Deal was declared on my precious Goldilocks 'type' bass. A club member is getting her, and I will leave the rest to him, for when he wants to let you know about it. I am very happy she is going to such a good owner.

My SI Lil' Bass is probably a Done Deal, too. Just waiting for Final word after this weekend, when newer pictures are taken and sent to another club member. Another good home found. I am very pleased.

Gee, how painful it will be to have to keep this beautiful bass, as none of you Alembic snobs will consider her (you know I am kidding). She ain't no Series bass, but she is then next best thing to it that I have found, and the woods and craftmanship are of Alembic par. So I guess I will keep her here. Hey no problem. Best five-string neck I have ever played and wonderfully balanced. It will be a thrill to teach an eleven-year-old on her, after he masters the short-scale Les Paul I have for him.
