i believe, strongly, this is one of those basses that should be kept in the club. it's a remarkable persuader. i know there are those who believe that the E's are the thing, and this is pretty standard when it comes to the E's; however, the wood is the thing w/this bass and it imparts a signature sound to this bass.

This is the only place I'd consider buying an Alembic from...great people with similar addictions...beautiful looking and sounding basses.

Based on context clues, I'd say Electronics.

REAL hard to go wrong with an Activator P/J setup on what appears to be a very special bass.  The wonders of wood always make it real hard for me to consider graphite instruments, just nothing like owning a special piece of creation.

I've sold both of my basses to get this one...because they couldn't hold a candle to an Alembic.

Congrats on your acquisitions.  The Persuader is definitely a great playing and looking bass.  I am a little disappointed that the tuners are silver Gotoh's and not the original gold Alembic tuners.  (That can be remedied at a later time).

Wayne; I don't understand your statement.  If you are asking if Gotohs were original on 1986 Alembics, they were.

My apologies...I thought Persuaders came standard with Gold Alembic tuners.  Are gold tuners available for Persuaders?

i'm receiving strange questions from a person claiming to be the buyer of this persuader. he's asking me why i changed out the tuners from alembic tuners to gotoh's, which i think is a question dave answered. i've been answering his questions all evening............then, i decided to check here to see what the hell was going on. he asked me what strings were supposed to be on the bass. i told him i couldn't remember but i thought they might be ken smiths. then, i went back here and found out flax had put TI's on the bass. strangely, w/o realizing this was the same bass i'd sold flax, i suggested he put TI's on it. when he told me he'd bought the bass from jeff and that he'd bought my persuader VECTOR, i thought he was talking about jeff pollicita who bought my persuader vector.  so, something strange is going on here, because this guy wayne bought the persuader VERMILLION, not the VECTOR, i sold. so, if he already knew the answer dave provided for the tuners, and he already knew jeff flax put TI's on the bass, what the f... is he asking me this crap for from my email address listed on my profile? is this a joke? am i being stalked? what is this crap?

i forgot something. when he said he'd bought my persuader VECTOR from jeff, who i thought to be jeff pollicita in longwood, colorado, and who i knew would NEVER sell that bass, he sent a pic of a persuader KOA! i saved the pic if anyone wants to see. so, i responded that i'd never sold a bass that looked like that and was he talking about the VECTOR which didn't look anything like that. it had a tiger maple top.............then, i began receiving, as has this site, weird questions about strings and tuners which dave and flax already answered. i just don't understand what this wayne character is pulling here.

Gotoh Alembic tuners come in Gold, Chrome and Black.  Some, but not all, have an A in Alembic script on the back.  I can't recall but I believe the current tuners are the same as the ones used in '86.  You should give Val a call at Alembic.
