i sold this bass to flaxattack. the pic was taken in my livingroom.  i can verify that it is an absolutely beautiful bass in perfect working order, electronically and otherwise.  the beauty of the top has to be seen to be believed.  it's a great looking, playing and sounding bass.

Jeff,

I completely understand that it's a shame to have any Alembic riding the bench. That's why I put my Orion up for sale. But, you know, there may be times and places that you'd like an Alembic in your hands but you wouldn't feel comfortable about it being the DW (or the upcoming Tribute). There are plenty of places my Little Bear will never go!

Just some food for thought.

Regards,

Jonathan

i have owned several persuaders, possibly 3 in number, but this one was absolutely the most beautiful bass i've owned other than my coco bolo mark king. in fact, there was a debate, which flax settled once and for all, about whether it was coco or vermillion. val said it was vermillion as well, but the owner i bought it from had kept it in pristine condition, and it has acquired a patina that is truly remarkable.  the second i saw flax was selling it, i had pangs of remorse for selling it.  however, i love my mark king coco. this bass has that sound. i can't explain how it does, but i think dave and others chimed in about how vintage top woods, and i believe this one was made from some stock that was considerably older than they thought, can make a bass take on a personality that is remarkable.  this is that bass. i played it A/B with my MK, back and forth, and i truly could not tell the difference when i set the MK electronics flat and then adjusted them to a fair fight. other than my vector persuader which jim now owns up in colorado, i miss this bass the most. it's a true treasure.

btw, this is the bass i coined a phrase for. i would like to resurrect that phrase. an ebay lookie kept arguing w/me about whether or not it was vermillion. i termed him an alembitch. those are people who want to debate every insignificant detail about an alembic they know nothing about.

you will love this bass when you get it. guaranteed. i think, for persuaders and given their relative value as compared to the big boys, you are going to treasure this bass. it is so beautiful that when you see it, and again given it's value vs. a series bass, you will think it can't sound as beautiful as it looks. wrong! there is something magical about this bass. i guarantee the wood gives it something extra. something indefinable. an alembaura.

i'll tell you what. if you don't like it, i'll buy it back from you. a second generation buyback. of course, the price would have to be right.

Thanks for reassuring me...I've been having withdrawal since I sold my Custom Rouge here last summer.  5-string and 36 neck was too much bass for my short frame.  I'm looking forward to playing an Alembic again!
