Question about transactions
« on: May 19, 2011, 10:30:49 AM »
I have never sold an instrument when shipping was involved. I am now thinking about offering my MusicMan Sterling for sale here, but I would like to know how to handle the payment. Obviously I want the cash in my grubby little hands before I send the bass on its way. I don't do paypal or credit cards, so does anybody have suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance.
Ben

HI Ben, if you do not do Paypal or credit cards then that leaves wire transfers or U.S. Postal Money Orders or personal checks,   Paypal worked well in a transaction that I did in this forum from another member when I purchased an SF-2, but that is not one of your options as you have explained.

Thanks, Wolf.
I guess wire transfers and Postal Money Orders are pretty much secure and guaranteed. Personal checks take some time to clear...
Maybe I'll give it a whirl.

I use United States Postal Service Money Orders when folks have no Paypal account. Those are the safest for both parties rather than generic brands. Just a thought.

Cashier's checks work well too.  Certified by the bank and they can't bounce.

Not always, if you use your bank account as a source the transfer is free. It's also free if you choose the option of the electronic check.
This is up until a few months ago when I used it last time, I don't know if anything changed recently.
