FT Feeler: New Modulus Q6 for your Alembic 5-string
« on: November 17, 2012, 10:18:50 AM »
I have beautiful Modulus Q6, its maybe 2 months old, I got this from Grasshopper over at Bass Central, great deal on a beauty, it was drop shipped directly from Modulus to my house. I am a 5-String player at heart and would love an Alembic Rogue of equal value, don't hesitate to offer other Alembics...4-strings as well. Here are the particulars:

Modulus Q6 Figured Spalted Maple top/Bartolini
Pickups/Aguilar OBP-3/Black Hardware, Case. Retail
$5299 Sale $3709

Yeah, it is beautiful...sounds and plays amazing as well. I probably would sell it for $3,350.

I just picked up a Q6 with the same electronics package.  They are fantastic basses.

Best of luck with your transaction.

Looking for Rogue, Europa and Essence 5-strings. 4-string basses(Series I or II or Stanley) are not out of the question. My dream bass is a Jimmy Johnson 5-string.

Hey there, I have been offered a trade, this is what has been discussed, as a straight up trade....here is the description the owner sent:
My Essence is a 2004, Bloodwood top, Mahogany body, neck is maple with purpleheart (I haven't seen another Essence neck like this) with Abalone inlays and Red led's. Ebony fingerboard. 34 scale, (I'll double-check that) Standard Essence electronics, simple, yet very effective in easily changing tone. Comes with HSC. I don't think there's a significant mark on the instrument anywhere. The HSC is pristine as well. I bought this bass a couple years ago on an E-Bay estate auction. Now I primarily only deal on T/B with my bass brothers/sisters. So, to say the least when the bass arrived I was a bit nervous...
Opening the box was an amazing surprise - the HSC was literally new, (still is) and the bass looked like it had the original strings on it, and maybe never really ever played!?!? The brass bridge and tailpiece - Perfect. NO significant oxidation from being touched by anyone's hands. The Led battery's were dead, so I replaced them, new strings and a set-up, and it's been a bass that is very special. This bass will stand a LOW set-up, and plays well all over the fretboard.

Please share your thoughts.
Thanks,
Craig
pics are being sent to me.

If you like the Alembic do the trade. It seems to me you could get an essence for a lot less than giving your modulus for it (I do love Alembics btw) though. Your modulus is pretty awesome man! Once it's gone, it's gone..... Just sayin'

And if your saying $3300 for your bass... That's Europa territory, not essence.... + cash, at least.

Very good points Mr Wookie, yeah the guy is implying that he paid $3000 because of the extras?
I am also concerned that because of the 19mm spacing on the essence I will have the same problems with my left hand .

Idk either of you but I think it's 19mm on my Europa 6 and 2.20 width at top and that's about all my puny little girl hands can take. Just so we're clear; I love Alembics I have 5 of them but everyone knows they aren't worth jack after original purchase. It's fine if he (essence guy) paid $3k for it, fine. But he knows it's not worth that. And I have LEDs its not that cool and for sure wouldn't sway me into trading if it were my sweet spalted 6 string modulus. I think a trade is a fine thing but let's be fare and square. From the sound of Mr. Essence, I might question that if he isn't saying anything about throwing some cheddar your way. Just my 2 cents. I'm about to email you btw.

The bloodwood looks awesome.  Bass + cash, if the value isn't there.  You could always just sell the Modulus and by what ever Alembic that you wanted.  Make sure that a 5 string isn't too wide also.
