Going Rate for an MK Std..
« on: March 17, 2013, 12:02:10 PM »
Economics being what they are I have to begin seriously considering parting ways with my last Alembic.
It's a 2000 MK Std, 32 scale, no extras other than red side LED's. I am the original owner and ordered it through Evan at Bass Northwest. It is still in excellent condition, babied through all the gigs. A couple of miniscule doinks that you need to look for. The back is pristine. The OHSC is absolutely brand new - I took out the bass when it arrived and the case has been in storage since. A minor thing, but worth mentioning. I have no idea what one retails for these days - I do see what the calculator kicks out. What would be a fair market value? Thanks for your help.

Oh Holy God that thing's awesome.  What's the going rate?  I haven't seen one that nice..so one would never know.  The one's on ebay seem to sell for more if they have a nice top laminate...

Sorry for no help..but I had to comment.

I would guess $3K would sell rapidly, $3500-4K would be fair, and anything higher would have to find the right buyer to move.

If eBay is a possibility for you, then I might try a run there with a low starting bid and high reserve to see what the current market thinks. Maybe start at something under $1500 and put the reserve at $4500. If it sells at that price, you will have done well. If it doesn't, you'll learn what the high bids are and the amount of interest.

mrlee2020 & bsee:

This is good information. I had no feel at all for a ballpark figure as I do not usually travel in these circles and these do not appear with regularity. I am trying to avoid ebay and would prefer to sell it to someone in the community.

Again, this was a feeler for some info. I appreciate the guidance.
