Along with Jerry, Les was one of my all time favs, a good friend turned me on to that guy that gibson was named for and i never could understand how like the Dead someone could'nt like this music. But like all kids who were different as a youngster i was to be on the recieving end of jokes till they finially outgrew micheal jackson and david frickin bowie e.t.c. god mtv laid waste to so many musical minds in the 80's if only Pandora had been around.....Les Paul will be missed in my casa today

i think the craziest thing is, when he went to the club that he's been playing in for the past 10 years, when he told the owner that he was Les Paul, the owner didn't even know who he was. that blew my mind away when i heard that. how do you not know the person who's name is on the most popular guitars in the world????? well, i can't believe that this happened, just the other day i was thinking this guy is ivincible. but it is in fact very sad that his music isn't as popular as it should be.

Maybe, now that he has passed, there will be a resurrgence of his music and reverence given to his pioneering efforts in the electronics field. He led a full life and everyone that I know who met him said he was a fabulous individual who was down to earth and pleasant to speak with.

I believe in order for this to happen the media needs to decide that it is time to let a certain pop star be dead and focus on paying homage to a true musical visionary and pioneer.

A genius has left us.  Not only a brilliant and genre-spanning/inventing player, his other minor accomplishments only included inventing the solid body guitar and multitrack recording.  Without which modern music would never have existed.  RIP, Les, you were one of the all time giants.

Les Paul's story was very inspirational and added so much to our quality of life.

It is sad that we spend too much time and focus on the profane, and less on the scared. But that's the anomaly of being human I guess.

Hal, did you mean ..focus on the profane, and less on the sacred? If so, you are sooo right on. It is sad in our times that the popular are such smucks. But that has been said of every generation to date.

Les Paul is my Hero. Period

When I was 4 years old, other kids were out in the streets throwing rocks, I was throwing guitar cords.

Man, I remember those pickups looking like huge chrome harmonicas glued on the body.

I had a VOX amp with the chicken head switches that made me feel like I was controlling a space ship command center.

I had the best child hood in the world. That was Les Paul did that for people like me... those whole loved music enough, to play it...

What a wonderful life, for him to dedicate himself to bring happiness to all people with electric guitars. That's something really beautiful (you know...)
