Alembic style Bridges and Tailpieces
« on: August 18, 2009, 02:09:33 AM »
Just out of curiosity, could one buy a bass bridge, sustain block, and tailpiece from Alembic?

I ask because I'm currently working on another bass project, and I'd love to have the Alembic hardware setup. I had planned on sending it to the Mothership later on for some Alembic pickups, but if I can get the hardware too I'll just save up and get it all done at the same time.

Also, just out of curiosity, did Bruce Bevcar buy his bass hardware from Alembic? Or did he make it himself? His tailpieces looked a little different, but I would swear this is an Alembic bridge..

Thanks!

Jimmy; Val hasn't worked at Alembic for a few years now.  And I happen to know that Mica and Susan are both out of the office today.  I'm not the one to ask, but my guess is that, if I'm understanding what you're getting at, you can have them Alembicize your instrument.

On the second question, I can't recall but it seems that this question, or one similar to it, has been discussed here before, and that Becvar did use some Alembic parts.  But that's just what my memory seems to suggest.

Hi - Sorry I missed this one. We sold parts to Bruce and we'll sell them to you too! If you want a price quote, it's best to email or call me up.

P.S. I know that bass!

I recognized it, but can't remember from where.  So I went and found it.

Oh, sorry about that then. I've been out of the loop for a while. Didn't know he wasn't there anymore.

Dave, in a nutshell, that's what I'm wanting. I didn't know how far they would take it, though.

Mica, thanks for your fast response. Based on my income rate, I'd say the prices at Alembic will go up a little before I get save up enough to send my bass in, but I'll give you a call sometime next week.

If I remember correctly, David Fung saw this bass at a guitar show a couple years back and snapped this picture. There are more around here somewhere.

Thanks again to everybody

Jimmy

Whoa, Dave, thanks for that link. I hadn't seen those before. This bass looked nearly black from the pictures I saw; musta been the lighting.

Here's another link for anyone who is interested.

Hah!  I knew I had seen that bass somewhere around here before!
