Hi, Dan. Sorry about your friend. What you have there appears to be an early Series I. The lack of a truss rod cover (assuming it hasn't just been removed) suggests 1976 or earlier. The in-line, Fender-type headstock is rather rare. Assuming the electronics and the blue box all work correctly, it would likely sell on eBay in the $2750-3750 range, perhaps even a little more due to the rare headstock shape. You might want to bring it to a luthier to check it out. Make sure you find someone who is familiar with Alembics. They are a completely different animal from all other electric guitars. Many a well-meaning competent luthier has butchered these guitars through inexperience with them. Also, you might want to post the serial number for us. You should find it impressed in the wood at the top end of the headstock. My guess is it will be either 74, 75, or 76, followed by three numbers.
