Hey Wolf mate I don't feel sad about it - just Jonesing
The SF-2 and IN-2 would make a great combination.
Next time I am in the Bay area I am gong to look you up and see if we can meet and sonically collaborate.
I had the opportunity to make a bid on a IN-2 just recently (last year) but was beaten to the purchase.
Wait a minute that was you!

Sorry Slawie, I had to comply to the sellers conditions  as is and final and it was not cheap $$. I figured that I might have to do some repairs at some point.
I think I actually waited for you to make a  move on the unit as I remember and then during a  question phone call with the seller the deal materialized in all honesty.  Slawie , social sonic collaboration is welcome next time you are in my neck of the woods . I will buy you lunch as well !

No worries my friend.
I am only running a stick across your picket fence regarding the IN-2
I will get one eventually.

I wonder how hard it would be to build an IN-2....

Edwin ,
I rebuilt one of mine . Serial # 24 . The sum of parts are not cheap in the original units. I had Acopian custom make me a part that was no longer available. Both of the IN-2's that I have seen have regulated power circuitry in design . You will also need high quality audio transformers for the passive balanced output interfacing,   The original ones were UTC. Lundahl can supply such replacements in design and quality.   You will spend $$$$ in parts total to match the original units in quality. Been there done that .  I think you can do it for your own private use,  but to build a comparable unit , the parts are all pricy . Alembic did not cut any corners on these .  Fitting it all in a one space unit rack mount enclosure was also part of the trick. I made it by 1/32nd  on the interior dimension on the rebuild. I had to make a thinner insulating stand off by 1/16 to do that . It was all fun and a labour of love in the long run.  It seems that many of my selected projects are such challenges. Refurbishment of  classic equipment  is a joy .

Slawie , I agree . That is why I would not show an opened picture of an IN-2 . I just repaired mine for my own personnal use . I would never build one to  Market it  and I would NOT accept any Alembic units for repair either.

Do you guys think running this SF-2 in-between an Epic and a Markbass Little Mark Tube 800 would be a fairly ideal setup?  I've taken to not using a lot of rack gear lately, but I still enjoy it!

I'm in the process of saving up for a Series instrument, but, as you can see from the picture, I love tone shaping!

No worries Slawie, with all this praising, I am trying to find a way to keep it. I was hit with a 1099 form a band after I filed my taxes....hoping I can figure out enough write offs to avoid paying more money to the gov. Hey has anyone here ever used a Meyer cp-10 equalizer? Can you cut and boost like an Sf-2 or is this apple and oranges.

A Meyer CP-10 is a Parametric Equalizer. A parametric equalizer is  NOT the same as an Alembic SF-2 which is an ingenious piece of equipment that utilizes State Variable Filter principles adapted in the most musically pleasing format that I have encountered.  I also own Laboratory grade filters such as those made by Krohn-Hite  that cannot touch an Alembic SF-2 for live musical performance use. I have also had Pluto Filters   that were also adaptations of  State Variable Filters ! That was 30 years ago . The Alembic SF-2 Super Filter is here and now !

A Meyer CP-10 is  an excellent tool as well ,  As are many other available Parametric EQ's   RTA's and RTA programs. The Apples & Oranges view point can be applied here in comparison to what The Alembic SF-Super Filter does. When I have an SF-2 connected , I treat it as part of the instrument its self. That result becomes the sound that I desire in that moment.
You could also have a Parametric in the signal path as well doing a separate job with an RTA or RTA program. You can even set up a calibration microphone to do this and dial in the room .

I own and have used many different PARAMETRIC Eq's  NONE do exactly what the Alembic SF-2 Super Filter can offer a musician for live performance  use .
