New bridge and adjustable nut
« on: September 14, 2009, 04:34:30 PM »
I have sent a question to the support line but haven't received an answer yet so I thought I would try this way....
I have a 1985 Distillate and am looking to get a new nut and bridge that is cut for string gauges 65-80-105-130, for a 4 string. This would help with the low tuning we currently use but I don't want to cut the current pieces so I can go back to a more standard string gauge when I need to. How long would this take to get and how much would they cost? If anyone can send that info I would appreciate it very much. I have a tour coming in 2 months and would like to get these changed.
Thanks,
Jeff~

Jeff; I might be wrong but I think it is the case that they can't actually cut the grooves without having the bass on the bench.  What you might want to do is order a blank nut and blank saddles from Alembic and then have a local luthier cut the grooves.
