I e-mailed the seller and reported it to E-bay. Is that what you are supposed to do?

I suppose so.  This one's not even close.  I hope people who are shopping for Alembics check the club before bidding.

I didn't even have to look at the auction and I could have told you it was from Texas.  These fakes come up every 3-4 months.  Someone makes a good living pawning these things around south Texas.  The pawnshops just look up the value in their blue book, then try to resell not knowing they've been suckered.  How many non-bass players know what an Alembic Elan looks like.

Mike; thanks for pointing this fake out on the board and thanks for taking action.  As Bill pointed out the seller may be a pawn shop and may or may not know that it's a fake.  So yes, emailing the seller to let them know in a courteous and helpful manner that the bass is not an Alembic Elan but a fake is an appropriate action.  And letting Ebay know is also an important step.  Also, alerting Mica is important as she will contact the seller and ask them to remove the decal.

The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.

Is that offset by the fact the jack fell off?

Kevin; that may be a custom order recessed jack.  It gives the top a cleaner look.
