Okay, Alembic police...go to work. If this one is legit, I'd be VERY interested.

Looks like an Alembic to me. However, I was not aware that they did the square battery cover back then. My 80' has the round cover but maybey it was square on guitars? A question for the makers!

I didn't see anything suspicious. There's even a serial number listed.  Looks like a very nice guitar to me.

I have dealt with this seller in that past. Top notch guy in my opinion...also has a very large Alembic guitar collection.

My 75 bass has a square battery cover, so no problem there.  FYI.

Good luck, whenever I see a guitar like that it makes me want to learn to play one.  The current custom of the month has started that lust also.

That is definately the real thing.  I know this guy and have bought Alembics from him in the past.  He can be trusted and has lots of Alembic knowledge.  He is just a bit shy when dealing with folks.  Great guy.  He and I traded snail mail for years before I was able to purchase Alembic 73-30 from him.

Now, if the guitar he is selling (75-213) was a bass, my hat would be in the ring too!!  That is exactly what I am looking for in a bass.  I have been hoping at a 75ish zebra topped bass like that would pop up for sale.

Michael,

That does raise my confidence level. It's still quite nerve-racking, however, investing this kind of money on something sight-unseen. Sure wish I lived close by enough to take a look in person.

The seller pulled the guitar from ebay. I'm not sure why. I've sent him an e-mail.

That was strange.  I was keeping an eye on this one.  Although I wasn't going to try to outbid a fellow Alembician.  I would like to know what the error in the listing was.

The seller e-mailed me back...quite a nice guy. Apparently a friend of his asked to buy the guitar when he saw it on ebay. So he pulled it. I'd have done the same. He was nice enough to offer to send some pics of an almost identical '76 Series I. So, I'll wait for those.
