The seller is asking $2000 for it. Is that price high, low, or average?

At $2,000, the listing says that the reserve has not been met; so it would appear that the seller is asking more than $2,000.  The listing also says that the bass is worth over $8000.00, which seems a bit of an exageration.  With their electronics and Purpleheart neck lams, Distillates are nice basses.  My guess is that $2,000 may be on the upper end of the price range, but I'm not really sure.  They don't come around all that often.

A few points to ponder:
 
The seller describes the bass as a 'customized limited edition' bass.  Sure looks to me like a stock Distillate (actually, it's nearly identical to mine) which would likely not be part of any limited edition.  
 
Also, my Distillate, while not in great condition, was had for $850 a couple years back, so I would think a range of maybe $1000-$1500 would be a more realistic selling price for an example in very good condition.  
 
Of course, the market is set by the consumer, so maybe someone out there feels the rarity of these instruments would justify this price.  Personally, I'm staying away from this one.
