Hm, the tune for the F1 races on the BBC also features an Alembic: the bass line from The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. Or at least when Murray Walker was still doing the commentary. (For some reason, both tunes are in A - well, one major and one minor.)

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one Terry. In my humble opinion, top gear is the only programme on british TV worth watching these days apart from the music programmes that grace BBC4 from time to time. I find Clarkson's irreverent attitude particularly refreshing in this day of wanton political-correctness-gone-to-far. I just haven't made the mistake of expecting a motoring programme - it's meant to be lighthearted entertainment.

James May also did two intoxicating (or rather intoxicated)series with Oz Clarke on wines, beers and spirits (of the alcoholic kind).

There was a Flemish version about Belgian beers featuring accordeon player Jean Blaute touring the nation together with Ray Cokes (of Super Channel and MTV fame). Oh dear, the best of intentions do not a decent show make.

Adriaan - it's 3 now. Following the tour of France in a jaguar XJS and the tour of America in a huge motorhome, both looking at wines they've recently done a series touring britain in a rolls covertable towing a caravan looking for Britain's favourite tipple. After 6 episodes of wines, spirits and beers they came to the conclusion that 'it' was a 'nice cup of tea'. Personally, I hate tea as much as Terry hates clarkson ;-) James and Oz make a superb pairing IMO. well worth watching.

I lost count of the various James & Oz series for a moment there, but I'm happy to report that I do remember all three now. If somewhat vaguely, due to the inspiring nature of the programme.

Thanks, Dave. As many bassists in the ABB as there were keyboardists in the Dead... (not counting Bruce Hornsby), but the ABB is still going strong. Hopefully Oteil will be with them for a long time to come.
