I was working as a sound man for a local club a few years ago and the bass player in a band from California had one of these basses and it could very well be the same bass I was oooohing and ahhhhing over.It's a beautiful bass.

That's a nice one.  A quick search for Special Edition Epics says made for Guitar Center anniversary- main differences appear to be the brass plates and neck laminates.
 
I guess the seller then is incorrect about the controls; should be normal vol/bass/treb/pan?
 
Gorgeous top, but I have an Epic 5 and am holding out for an Excel.
