Did that ship from Alembic like that originally, or was it (i.e., the oval ebony compartment cover with tiger inlay) added later after the fact?

I don't know.  It's similar to but not the same as the one on this guitar.

There is a company that sells exact Tiger inlay replicas, among other Jerry'esque guitar parts. Check out: www.jackofroses.com

Since the oval basically interferes with one of the jacks I had a strong suspicion that it didn't ship from Alembic that way. IMHO, it devalues the market value of the guitar to have made that non- stock and non-reversible mod.

I still wouldn't mind a Tribute for $2500 anyway, Wink,Wink! LOL!

The inlays pictured on that site are very close to, but still not the same as, the one in the listing.

Oh, I'm sure it is. Alembics are a tough sell (for premium prices) on the open market unless you're already addicted like those here on the site. Even still, I doubt Alembic Club members would pony up a premium for a modded piece like that. For the right (low) price, I imagine someone will jump on it. Like I said, anything is possible for the right price, LOL!

I've been watching this one too.  It's creeping up to the point where I'll lose interest, though.  Currently at $3,264.00 with more than 4 days to go and the reserve not met.  I suspect it will soon be out of my willingness to reach.

I've never seen an oval-inlaid Tribute that had the inlay screwed onto the top.

Not that convenient - you need to be able to wield a small screwdriver, probably in dim lighting, and not scratch the thing up.

Bob; now that you've pointed it out, you're right, it's not all that convenient!

Buffalo Bill is the hi-bidder! I guess you really want that bad-boy! Reserve still not met, though.
