This is really tempting.  Except I already have an F-2B and I don't really nead another one.  Pictures would be nice.  Local pickup only.

Yes, truly tempting... though I'm not even looking for a preamp.

I like the part where if you hold the power cord just right, it works (and if you don't, maybe you die).

It depends on exactly how local it is, but if close enough, I might (maybe) be willing to act as intermediary for an established club member.

But I'm not going to wiggle the power cord for you.

So, Bob, assuming it's still available and close enough, if I sent you a PMO for 300.00 and a separate PMO for 50.00 to cover your time and hassle, would that sway the maybe to a yes?

close enough == not enough time or hassle to worry about - I'm not looking for a second career (though of course you would cover shipping of your choice).

I doubt this will work out. It's listed in East Bay, which is already a minimum half hour each way, and I was thinking if it was somewhat within a one hour radius, maybe I could help out (too bad Rory's not around, he'd probably be a lot closer). Also, I've never touched an F2B, so I don't know how much I could check out for you (or want to, under the circumstances).

Go ahead and figure out whether it's available, and if you really want it, and email me their address or at least a zip code, we'll see. That's about the best I can say.

My guess is that it's the same person selling an 88 Spoiler, but I'm definitely not in the mood for packing and shipping a bass...

(I don't know what PTBO is going on about, let's just ignore him)

I emailed the F-2B seller this a.m. when I saw this thread as he is in my neck of the woods and, for $300, an F-2B might be fun to check out.  He quickly emailed back that he already had appointments to show it to three people.  If none of them grabs it, he'll give me a shout.  I'm not holding my breath.

Bill, tgo

I have an F-1X and have never played through an F-2B.  I've always been curious as to if there's a great tone difference between the two preamps, or of any advantage from one over the other.

My rack could house two preamps ..... NAH, I shouldn't.  I should be saving my money for ......?

Someone local should grab it.  If all it needs is a power cord it's a screaming bargain.  For me, now that I think about it, it's not such a deal after shipping and making it worth someone's time to check it out.  Thanks for the offer, Bob, but it sounds like we'd be number 5 in line at this point, so, oh well...

i just got done restoring an F2-B that was pretty hammered.  it was worth the effort if you've the skills.  if i had to take this unit to a tech it would've cost me a pretty penny and i would've been pretty bent outta shape.

all that said, if all ya gotta do is replace the power cord, then go for it.

btw - it *is* worth the effort.  i gotta 100% tube stereo rig outta the deal and i couldn't be happier.  my new band isn't gonna know what hit 'em when i show up...
