1983 Alembic Electrum!
« Reply #15 on: June 05, 2006, 12:16:38 PM »
Hippie cold cut! I love it! :-D  I have not laughed so hard since the Little Dead Rooster line.

Well to me that looks way too light to be walnut. But you could be right, mahogany. If your core is koa it could look more 3-D because of the way the grain faces out the sides, also.

I agree, it's surprising to see a modded guitar go for $2000+ but I have been watching eBay, hoping to get a friend of mine interested in an Alembic guitar, and old six strings seem hard to come by, certainly compared to Alembic basses, wouldn't you say?

If I owned it, I'd put the standby switch and power LED back in - hopefully those holes were not enlarged. Or, if the circuitry would allow, I'd install a Q switch for one or both filters instead of the standby switch.

Can some Alembic Electrum owners post photos of their electronics cavities (and controls from the front) for comparison?

The Electrum was made to be a budget minded Guitar for the player who wanted an Alembic but didn't have the cash for a Series 1 or 2. It did come with the Bone Nut, though most Alembic's have a Brass Nut.(More cost savings). Some had the Mustache Tailpiece, but later some got the Newer Tailpiece later.(Lucky Mustache Owners). There is a Bass that was made in the same Budget minded fashion. My 83' has the Flamed Koa sides, 3 piece  Maple Neck.(Still a beauty). They also Changed to a Flamed Koa top to give for a better Flamed Koa top. Istill like my solid Koa sides.( I'll send a Pic in Future Posts). Peace!
