I am not a bass player per se. But I did work for Fender guitars for 3 years as a builder/QA inspector, as well as Danelectro guitars, so I have played my share of basses, I've held more in my hands than most people ever-even dream of. I have also owned/ do own some pretty amazing instruments myself from my years at Fender, and some custom James Tyler Guitars. So I do know a thing or two about it. Now I would never normally say this on the Alembic forum, just because I don't want to offend anyone's pride in their own personal instruments, but since it seems to be such a topic not only here but on the auction; the bottom end that this bridge system helps produce is unlike anything any other Alembic has ever even dreamed of sounding like! The sustain, bottom end, playability, it's unreal! That's a fact. It's like playing a guitar with a neck made of stone! I mean the bridge piece is mounted on a half-inch plate of solid brass sunk into the body. Right into the laminate! That?s more direct surface-to-surface contact than the Alembic system has to offer. Uh oh, I?m gonna get it now. I can feel it! The results are pretty astounding! Maybe not to an Alembic purist, but certainly for a working musician! And yes, it can be set up to be used as a tremolo system if you're into that sort of thing. It's not set up for that now, but it does have the holes drilled for it. Bridge is made by Kahler.
