Yes, it's a Series I.  The ad mentions the case but does not mention the power supply and cable.  I like the flamey pattern on the back.

Knotty Maple??? Huh? Looks like a mild quilt and/or bird's eye. $11k appraisal from Alembic? Maybe to replace it with a new one!

Sorry what I say, but someone here is smokin' dope! LOL! Hint: it ain't me! LOL!

Eiji is right.  This bass was previously offered for sale on this board several times with the serial number 76-506.  The serial number on the Ebay listing must be a typo.   is a previous thread with pictures.

Yeah, I remember it.
I posted on previous thread !
I can't understand, why the bass is listed as 76-508, or 1975.
Is the seller same as previous thread or next owner ?
Anybody contact the seller ?

any ideas why this didn't sell from the earlier thread?  Was he asking too much?
I have asked the ebay seller a couple of questions including a photo of the serial number
- no repsonse to any of my emails.
Scam?
Is the current bid high, or about right if it is
a clean 76-508 (or 506)??
responses from forum appreciated since I am not getting responses from the seller...

Hi Gary; welcome to the group!

As to why it didn't sell on the board, he may have been asking more at that time than anyone on the board was willing to pay at that time.  I don't think a price was posted, so I don't know how much that was.

The current seller says they are selling for a friend.  And the seller has numerous current listings for costume jewelry.  This may be why you're not getting a response to your email.  I doubt it's a scam.  But you need to find your own comfort level.

In my opinion, the current bid is high; but that's just my opinion.  Obviously the current bidder doesn't think so.  If the listing had said that the bass has had the electronics upgrade, then the current bid would seem more reasonable; but it doesn't say that and it probably hasn't had the upgrade.

The seller confirms there is a power supply.

I can't remember what a coffin case is.

As I said in a previous post above, I really like that flamey pattern on the back.  And I'm partial to Maple.  I think it's a nice bass.

If you really like this particular bass as opposed to wanting an S1 in general, then that's a consideration in your decision.

I live with this Bass. The reason it is being sold amonst others is that our 4 year old dog is really sick. His treatment has aleady hi 5 figures. We hate to part with it but some things are more important. To set the record straight. It is a Series 1 Medium Scale Birds eye maple. I belive it was Armando who sent us the certificate of authenticity. It's replacement value is 11,500.00 It has been with Steve for over 15 years. Any other questions can be e mailed to me directly

strangely enough, the owner has posted a jan 1 message and the previous bid was retracted due to the bidder's inability to make contact w/the seller. seller still hasn't addressed the serial number issue. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Unfortunatly for me, I had a friend post the Bass on eBay for me. We have an old clunker of a PC. So basiclly due to her carelessness on making contact with the bidder in a timely manner the sale was lost. The Bass is for sale and as I previously mentioned anyone can contact me with questions. Feel free to contact Alembic also as they have a complete record of the Bass
I was told that the person selling the bass for me faxed the bidder a copy of the serial number

that's a reasonable explanation except for the fact the retracted bid was for $5K. not trying to be contentious, but that's a really high bid for this bass. sorry, but i'm not a believer.

The serial number is 508. In the original thread on the Club listing it was listed as a 506 typo. I'm not understanding the confusion. It is news to me that the bid was $5k You're right that is really high and news to me. I was told something different altogether and much lower. The price listed was $3500.00 Lesson learned never go through a third party
