Him again?
I wrote back and forth with the seller, a semi-literate youngun, for months last year and hammered out a deal to buy the bass at roughly half that price. I got cold feet when he let slip the bass belongs to his brother, who is in the military and deployed overseas.
Proceed with caution...

is it just me and my half-century old eyes, or is the headstock slightly bent toward the E string side of the neck? i've bought alot of alembics. i think i've owned between 5-7 of them; however, i can't ever recall seeing an optical illusion that made me believe the headstock is off-center to the neck on any ebay ad pic before! could be the power of suggestion since seller admits to a repair, but i swear that headstock is skewed off-center in the pic from the back. i've looked closely to see if the purpleheart laminate looks out of line, but there's a flashpoint obscuring where i think it would be. thoughts?

$3K for a headstock repair is a bit much, straight or not...

Here's his response to my email..
I acquired the bass five years ago, and the repair was done two years ago. As I said in the listing, the bass is not new, perfect, excellent, mint, or in very good condition. The brass needs to be polished. That is the only cosmetic issue, and other than that the bass is in good working order.
I don't know about this one!
