I am bewildered at the final price for this mutron III, the same seller had an octave divider that came in at over 1200...is there a run of super rare mutrons coated with dmso and osley magic(or maybe they all were)...or ebay's hidden bidder system is making it easier for shill bidders.

Considering that four original Mutron IIIs sold on ebay in the last two weeks, and the other three sold for $380-$450, and this one isn't significantly better than the other three, I don't buy it. Something smells fishy!

I agree that the new eBay setup sucks. It's so easy for someone to get a few email addresses, et each up with eBay accounts and then spread out a handful of small purchases to get them all a little feedback. It's also very easy to rig the bid counts by making below reserve or otherwise super-low bids on a variety of items that you will never actually have to purchase.

Some of it is stupid buyers, though. Don't ever underestimate them...

Very strange, indeed. They have been in the $350 - $450 range for the last couple of years - even with the ps-1.

Odd ebay listings aside, they are great old pedals. :-)

Now that is very interesting. I believe I may have one in the basement.
I haven't used it since the 70's. That is just outrageous. I think back then I paid a little over $150. That was expensive back then.
I'll have to get the shovel out and dig it up.

I'd rather have a new re-issue one than one of the vintage ones; new ones are pretty much the same but nowhere near as noisy, plus they are cheaper at about 230$ new.

Well, I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I have ABd the Musitronics Mu-Tron III and the Has Mu-Tron III+ and, though similar they are different beasts. When used with my Skylark, the original Mu-Tron is not noisy at all. The Has version just doesn't get the depth and color of the vocal character of the Musitronics.

I haven't tried one of the Q-Tron family from Electro-Harmonix, but I've heard they are pretty good sounding and get pretty close to the original. Also, fairly new in the envelope filter pedal group is the Guyatone Ultron - here's a write-up from guitar player. I'd love to hear if anyone's tried one of these. At $425 they're not a lot cheaper than a vintage Mutron, but they look like they have a lot going on.

Well I did get lucky and found the unit. No clue where the PS and manual are though. Looks a little rusty on the nuts( keep it clean) and dusty for sure. This is an early one, patents pending stamp and SN#02369. Getting late and I'll see if it even works another day. Book is full tommorrow but we'll see. I don't know what I'll do with it yet, more like a trip down memory lane right now. "What a long strange trip it's been!" NLP

no, seriously...
It's in california ,available for inspection before purchase. I would have to plan a road trip or have a knowledgable friend check it out.
I'm not looking for more amps at the moment ,could be a good investment or not.
It was such an interesting offer I had to share it with fellow gearheads.
If anyone in california might want to see if this amp is a reasonable purchase ...it might be worth checking out.
I don't know the seller,she's had it up on ebay twice over the last 6 months...I would be ultra cautious of course.

here's one of the pics I was sent...

it's a 4 channel PA amp,in the auction description the seller mentions it has some decent 'crunch' for guitar.
I will have to email the seller or forward yours to her for the specifics.

I'm so happy with my recent mesa purchase(1970)...I don't see myself buying any amps for a while.

I better stop thinking about it...I was just imagining a quad dumble set-up...

...I forgot to mention there's no speakers,
the cab houses like 4 chassis's and lotsa tubes.
