70's F-2B on eBay
« on: December 17, 2008, 12:20:47 PM »
I'm considering this and would like some input. Are there any known issues with F-2B's of this vintage? If it has issues, what is the likely cost range for sending it home for repair?

Filter caps wiggling off their leads. If you can convince the seller to check the insulating foam under the caps and on the lid interior and even pad with paper wadding for transit if the foam is decayed, you might be able to replace the foam yourself and save $75.

If the foam is old and decayed, the caps will suffer during shipping.

I believe Alembic still has some of the red knob inserts left.  I use an old F2-B on which I had to replace the caps and foam.  It now works wonderfully.
