Found this killing some time at work.
Is it me or do the first two frets on the bass neck look unplayable? Unless of course you have Spaghetti for fingers.

Actually, it looks like the bass neck is straight and the guitar neck is tilted back. Even though it looks like there's no space from the front, I think there's room for the hand. Of course, this probably makes for a case nightmare.

HMM, this picture looks a lot different than that one. Shorter scale guitar maybe? (or longer bass or both even)

I think it is perspective, Olie. If the guitar neck does angle back, then the straight on view won't look like the pic from an angle. Look at the pic in the listing that is straight on from behind.

Odd how camera angle changes ones perspective on it. These two pix are a fine example.

I just found out myself from a Ric doubleneck owner that the two necks are angled differently.

I don't know, if that were the case, then they probably wouldn't have put the frets on to begin with! Instead, I enjoy considering the irony of using upright bass thumb position technique on a short scale instrument...

It'd be a trick for me. I have trouble enough with my upright. Compound that with horizontal position...
Fortunately for me Alembics are easy-access up there. I play quite a bit in the upper register.
