I recall it saying Series I on the listing originally. Either one can edit a Craigslist listing, or my mind is playing tricks on me.
I believe the current prices have very little to do with retrieving the amount originally paid and more to do with attempting to make a profit. Unless this guy was thoroughly hosed when he purchased the bass, he probably paid around $1000 for it. Persuaders, when they were generally available in stores, were around $1000 back in the late 80's. Until maybe two years ago, they've traded in the $750-1200 range based upon condition and extra features. Lately, basses that sold for $1200 are now commanding $2000. Unless Entwistle owned and autographed this thing, I can't see too many circumstances that would lead anyone to legitimately pay $5K for a typical Persuader.
