There was another Allan Thompson guitar on ebay a while back, that one was overpriced by far ($70,000 IIRC).
It's nice to see one for sale that's a bit more affordable.
Pretty cool inlays...the guy has talent.
If only it had series ll electronics.

I dunno.... I remember this guitar having a similar astronomical price not too long ago. If it sounds too good to be true, it may just be so. Hopefully the buyer asked the right questions, cause for $3k that's a hell of a deal IMHO....

I've never heard of the guy. If you ask me, this looks like one of the Antonio Tsai instruments with the over-the-top inlays that sell really cheap on ebay with a $150 shipping fee. I've got one with a very ornate dragon. Flax had a bass with an ornate nude he described on this site referred to as the titty bass a couple of years ago. Pretty impressive inlay for the money and almost unplayable instruments.

I've always wondered about those Antonio Tsai instruments... as well as a certain chinese-made Sunsmile brand that I've seen recently here in Venezuela. Neck-thru instruments, nice looks, and somewhat on the cheap. However, I've not played any of those. The Antonio Tsai's seem pretty in some cases, although I'm not very fond of heavily inlaid instruments. However, at least a couple basses have caught my eye. I really wonder how do any of these instruments perform, or what can they be compared to (specially on the almost unplayable category)...

I've read reviews and for the most part, it's not good.
Some have complained about the instruments(hollow acoustic instruments)self destructing after a short amount of time.
Mostly due to lack of curing of the wood, so by the time it stabilizes there are gaps and wrps that cause structural failure.

I purchased an ornate acoustic made in Vietnam ($125); mine hasn't imploded but the fretwork was lame and the neck had warped badly.
I pulled the frets, re-radiused the fretboard and installed frets...it's still pretty much a wall hanger, but it's a lot better than it was.

So the saying holds true : you get what you pay for ... in my case I got an opportunity to practice fretting a neck without the worry of damaging a nice instrument.

i sent the seller of this some simple straight forward questions and got no reply...i don't trust that at all especially on an instrument which starts at 3 G
