RARE Alembic Series 1 brasparts!!!! Excellent Condition
« on: May 08, 2010, 10:12:02 AM »
Saw these on Ebay today. May be good if someone is doing a refurb on their bass or building their own.

Thanks Jazzyvee,
 What great timing.
I'm putting together an alembic inspired bass ( neck through, ebony fingerboard with neat inlays, brass sustain block...etc ) and I was going to have to manufacture a tailpiece from some brass I have...this would be ideal if I happen to be the lucky winner.

cheers,
elwood

I saw these on Ebay as well and after reading the description stating theses were for a lefty I reconsidered  biding on these since I am not a lefty. Personally I do not think that I would be very happy with re-sizing the notches', but then consider that I have issues in being  quite  OCD __ LOL ____!

Happy biding & Sonic regards

@Elwoodblue
    If you acquire these parts_________________
I have an idea to make this work and have correct sized notches'.  Use a hard nickel silver solder or  nickel silver braze  the over sized notches'   and then re notch  and rebuff the entire unit ; it might even look interesting.

I don't care what the description says, that tailpiece sure looks right-handed to me.

I read that they were left handed but the tailpiece certainly doesn't look a lefty to me.

Elwood, I'm glad to be of service. Fingers crossed that you win it.

Gentlemen , The pictures do indeed show a right handed tailpiece!
Quite contrary to the written description. I have purchased many parts from through Ebay and have usually not been too disappointed ,however there have been a few occasions where the description does not match the item  and in this case I now contact the seller just to make sure I really know  what I am getting.( are these the correct pictures of what you are getting ?)
 Happy biding_____

Upon closer inspection of the picture vs my tailpiece the screw holes are in the wrong place.
I bid $20 and that is as far as I will go.
Looks like I will not bid further. Reserve not met at $20.

Upon looking at the tail piece again , if one were to turn  the point facing left that puts the E  string on top and would require fingering with the right hand and plucking or picking with the left !

If one were to turn the pointfacing right then the G  string is on top!

This  picture is a of LEFT handed tail piece !

I think you may be looking at your monitor from the back, Wolf .  The tailpiece I'm seeing, if you point the point headstockwards, puts the big, fat notch on top & the little skinny notch on bottom for a RH ax, while for a LH one, the vice would be versa.  Now, granted, I'm The World's Worst Guitarist, not a bassist, but unless my misspent youth has hit my memory harder than I realize, I believe that's how you cable-clutcher* guys do it, too, no?
*Thanks, Bill - love that term.  And I'm not sure, but I think the nickel-looking shot is the result of bad lighting.
