Looks like signature electronics too. That should be $3K all day long if it doesn't have a broken neck or some other major issue.

got an email back.Seller is nice,went and checked the bass and it is in poor condition,multiple scratches,neck veener is uneven,belt rash everywhere,very worn out,and 5 out 10,I was there and doubted to buy it.I'm still thinking about but not fully convinced!

So it's probably the best sounding beater bass available. That does explain the price, which sounds like it is more fair than a steal. Still, if the tone is there and the neck is straight, the scratches and rash are tolerable for a heavy gigging bass. Not sure what you mean about the neck veneer, though.

Well after some hours of thinking about it,It looked to me very beat up and is more for a luthier to whom wish to invest time and money,bass is there structurally but it needs to a complete refinish makeover,as far as the electronics are there,couldn't test it,the guy didn't want to bother taking his gear's cover out and plug it,I was a little uncomfortable with that,checked cavity compartment and is there.on my personal opinion seller seemed to be firm on the price,so sure selling it soon,which is I don't doubt it when people inquiring as for the name and the electronics speaking,but once you see it a little disappoiment,bass has seen better days.so there you have guys who wants to take the plunge? as for me is worth less than half what asking price is,or for what the electronics are worth!Good luck to you. sorry Bob on the neck on the maple pieces that goes across are like coming out a little bid,like uneven neck,I could feel it by rubbing it with my hands,it looked and felt when bass is left to sun exposure.

okay - the uneven neck thing is not uncommon, especially if there is a combo of maple and purpleheart or ebony. I have had that on several basses where they have dried or shrunk differently over time. Clearly, your description gives pause. If everything works, then it is probably still a good value for someone who will play it as is. The pics look pretty good if they represent the current state of the instrument. If I'm gigging it hard, I don't care what the back looks like. It certainly won't lose value from being further used.

I'm not in the area, but if it were a fiver in this condition and price, I'd be interested. I'm still looking for a 32 fiver at a good price...

Yes Bob I agree with you,believed at one point I thought buying it right there,because I'm on the quest for an Europa 5,I don't know why but I feel is my type that fits me well,I just love the shape,the design,everything and looking to buy a decent one,but on the other hand I'm just being 2 eyes for any member on this forum who now is willing to buy it,seller just emailed and he is on the $1400 firm,so I'm undecided either wait for a clean one for a decent price or spend $1400 and spend who knows what on fixing it,I'm a guy that likes things done and there,otherwise it'll be a never done project on the garage,I'm an Alembic proud member who is on the belief that Alembic's are to show the beauty of them and to share nice memories as well.but anyway bass is very,very beat up something that seller is not disclosing up front,once you see it and buy it you don't want ask yourself later what was I thinking?,but don't take my word if anyone want to take the bumpy ride more than welcome.

hi guys, just wondering, is the poor condition purely cosmetic or does it effect the playability? My old Spoiler was a terribly beat up old thing but it played and sounded fantastic and only cost me 1400...
are the controls separate vol and tone with Q filter switch?

Hi Rob,

The electronics look like they're Signature. That would consist of volume, pan, filter and two filters (neck filter/bridge filter). There will also be a Q switch for each filter.

The physical condition wouldn't bother me much, but it was reported above that the seller wouldn't uncover his gear so the bass could be plugged in and played. I'd be wary of that and would only buy if I could play the bass personally. If you're close to the seller, maybe take a small combo or headphone amp with you to test the electronics.

hmmm.....sounds fishy. bad pic and doesn't want to uncover an amp to get $1500 for a bass he doesn't play??? seriously who here would do that to a person who wanted your stuff and had 1500 bucks for it? I think I'd turn the power on for a second for the cash if for nothing more to not look like a jerk.

First I thought just to leave the place but after 2 hours driving on traffic,and left work unattended I have no choice to settled and checked it out anyway and decided just to forget all about it and go back to work. really wished to try how it will sound,seller contacted me to make a serious offer later over the weekend but I'm so undecided to pay because the condition of the bass,very,very poor and beat up! believe me guys! It is very beat up there is not only one part of the bass that without scratches,floor dragging,etc,,cosmetically I will grade it like a 4.
I had it on my hands and spent about less than 20 minutes with it,and cash ready to spend but condition wise probably not for me.
