Larry Graham using Alembics?
« on: April 25, 2011, 07:04:34 AM »
Mica and the Gang:
I'm a huge Larry Graham fan, I've honed parts of my style on his technique. I'm quite sure he using an alembic on several cuts of the My Radio Sounds Good To me record in 1978. Any Ideas what model he's using?
Listen to cuts: My radio Sounds Good, Boogie Witcha Baby, Mr. Friend...

Peace

I could be wrong, but I believe back in 1978 Alembic may have been making Series instruments only.  A quick look at the Showcase section shows the earliest listed Distillate, (one of the first, if not the first, non-series model), being built in 1980.

Hey, Bill, the Serial Number Guide on the Reference Page shows Distillate & Electrum as starting in '78, joining Series I & II and Custom .

I Thought so, I Do Know the sound of the best!!!!
of course he's slappin' the crap outta the other cuts as always.
Does he still use the Big Muff for his distortion or has someone designed a special one for him...I want one if they do!!

That's cool !,  but he doesn't go into his gear too much though.!!! I'd like to find out what he's useing for distortion ? I did find something that's cool for Us bass players, Try useing a Blues Driver on you bass, It's sweet, BBE's Green machine works well too!!!
