Can someone explain the logic of this?

The Spoler with cream pup covers has been relisted on ebay and jacked up by $250.00....now $3500.00!?!?!?!

The seller wants the right price. Best offer is an option, and some people base their offers on the asking price. Personally, the combo of the zebra and cream soapbars doesn't do anything for me, but it is a rare look. Someone will buy it, or they won't. It will be relisted for more, or less, or maybe the same price. Unless you really want the bass for $1500, it shouldn't bother you. In that case, though, make a polite offer and you may be contacted at some point in the future if the stars align.

I've been scratching my head over this one, too; after no bites at $3000, it was relisted at least 4 times at $3250.  Now it's up more?  A crown-head Spoiler strikes me as about ideal, but I'm not feeling the white p/ups with that wood, either; if I had any expendable income, I'd offer $2000 & pay $2200. And while I agree with everything you said, Bob, I just can't wrap my brain around the concept of no sale = raise the price.  Oh, well - I'd wish him luck on the sale, but actually I hope it's still available if I ever get any $ (at which point I'd post offering to trade the whites straight-up for black, brown or caramel).

Ultimately, my main goal was to inform it's availablity.
How anyone lists...it's a freedom of choice, for sure.  As a friend once said, Everything is worth whatever someone will pay.
If it were mine, I'd switch out the pup covers no doubt.

I have never understood the logic of this one or other Persuaders and Spoilers I've seen for which people are asking extremely high prices.
 
I suppose if you don't really want to sell your instrument (e.g., the spouse says one of your (insert # of instruments you have in your collection here) basses has to go, you can always list it at an exorbitant price and it will allow you to keep the peace(piece). If you're smart, you'll set the price at a level at which even you would be willing to let the instrument go.
 
I know that in my situation, if I ever see that SC I've been looking for come up at a reasonable price, I'll probably be told that 3 basses is too much and will need to put either my 86' Distillate or 73' EB-3 up on the block. Although I wouldn't mind parting with the EB-3, it would be quite difficult to let the Distillate go. So...it just might get listed at a price that I'm pretty sure no one would pay.

Hammer....since I'm looking for my 1st Alembic, and plan for it to be a Distillate, I'll keep my eye out for your over priced D, but I'll understand why.  LOL
 
I saw my first D at the NAMM show in Chicago back in '81, and fell in love with the lines (body shape).  
I still have a few pieces of the Literature I picked up (along with the price sheet) from the Alembic booth at the show.

There's a Series I newly listed today on ebay from a regular seller.  And, at what I feel is at an inflated price.
The way it reads, the potential buyer is lead to believe this bass is the best and last one in existance!
And a very poor command of the English language, to boot!
 
I've had online exhanges with this individual before.  Let's just say I avoid him exclusively, regardless of what he is selling or for how much.
