Every so often I see these Tulip Wood Basses. Wonder why this wood isn't more popular? They are exquisite.

That's the second tulipwood Alembic that's turned up in the last couple of months. Absolutely gorgeous.  Not a bad price on that bass if it is truly mint.

Yes, it is truly mint. I own it and I am glad to know that I am in the right ball park as far as price goes.

Wow Mike, that's a gorgeous bass. Love the bookmatch to center top.

Tulipwood has always been somewhat limited since we don't make 4 wide instruments. Getting boards in wide widths is near to impossible these days, but I'm always on the lookout for more. We recently found an old board of it stashed away here that we promptly made a Darling guitar for our Showroom.

Thanks Mica ! Yes, it is gorgeous, and like I said, to me, the Rogue and Elan are the easiest playing Alembics.
Why is it that whenever I have an Alembic for sale and you know about it I feel guilty ?

Congrats, Michael! That is a Truly Beautiful Instrument. I would be interested what qualities the Tulip Wood has on the sound compared to the other woods? To bad about the availability of the raw materials.

So, I am the one who bought the tulip wood Rogue.  Really excited about getting this.   Wish I had the money for that tulipwood Essence 5er too.

Hi Geoff ! So here we are on the forum. You will like the Rogue much better than an Essence. I love Essences, but the Rogue is just more versatile and ergonomic, in my opinion. It's all personal. They are both great.

I'm glad to know you got your 5'er needs covered, too.

Listen, if Mica took the time to chime in on the beauty and rarity of this tulip wood Rogue, then you know you have something special !! You have been knighted by the Mothership, Geoff !! OK, maybe I'm being a little overly dramatic, but it's fun !!

Not overly dramatic to me.  I have been a Dead fan forever.  My teacher owned Alembics and has been talking about them to me.  I feel blessed that these are coming my way.  They will surely inspire me to better and higher playing.  Glad to be a part of the community!

Congrats Geoff and welcome to the club. I will keep your contact info in case you can swing the tulipwood essence 5 string in the future. I am in no real hurry but there has been some interest. Enjoy the Rogue...I am jealous!

Thanks man, I appreciate.  Not sure I could swing it anytime soon though.  Tax refund money is gonzo.  Selling off other stuff to make up the difference after buying that second Alembic.
I really appreciate the friendliness on this forum!

I wonder how many tulip wood basses made it out of the mother ship?  We have seen 3 here so far...
