@ hammer.....thanks so much!

Logistically, it couldn't have worked out better (one reason I knew it was to be).
I have a brother living just south of New Port Richey (in Dunedin).
---call seller and give him my brother's #
---said brother picks it up and pays
---said brother takes to UPS and ships to Casa de Jay.
---oh yeh....don't forget to pay brother back!

My 60 years of hanging out has (finally) taught me to not count my chicks before they hatch.  But, looks like the gestation period is about over.

Pics, etc. will surely be posted.  Stand by ~~~

I guess the only part of the plan I don't understand is were you indicate: don't forget to pay brother back! Given the distance between OH & FL, I'd be tempted to say, Receive bass, play bass, keep forgetting to pay brother back (at least until the next family reunion). Unless of course we are referring to a big brother in a way that has nothing to do with age.

On another note, did your brother get a chance to look at the Brown Bass when he picked yours up? Now that I know the guy is legit, I guess I really need to think hard as to whether a Brown bass is close enough to a Flame Koa SC Signature Deluxe with a maple/purpleheart/ebony neck for me ditch the idea of a new bass and save a lot of money with a slightly used version. Oh yeah...and would he pick up the Brown Bass for me and let me pay him later? Haha

@ hammer.....in regard to don't forget to pay brother back----believe me, I won't FORGET to pay him back.  I just WON'T.  lol

Assurance Policy: Although I'm the youngest of the four boys, I'm also the biggest.  (had they known I would grow to these proportions, they would've been a bit kinder during our formative years)! Seriously, we all get along just great.

With regard to my brother checking out the Brown, no good.  He's not a bass guy at all, and would be no reference in the bassdom world.

I spoke this a.m. to Craig (Dis and Brown owner) and he is thinking about pulling the Brown listing.  Not sure of his logic as to why.

Meanwhile, there is a dead nuts beautiful Stanley on gbase.  It's in the NYC area, a decent asking price and cocobolo.  Part of me wanted to buy it sinply because it's so gorgeous.

Bass Central has a slew of Stanley's, but none have the multi pin...just a quarter inch. What's the deal???

The Stanleys they have are all presumably Signature models with Sig electronics---not small-bodied Series I's (like Stanley is usually seen playing).

@ sj, pace, hammer (did I forget anyone?)....Thanks you SO much!  She'll be here on Thursday (the day following seeing the Beach Boys 50th Anniversary concert at Blossom in Cleveland....belated birhday gift from my youngest daughter and son-n-law)

I assured the seller that she'll be truly and duly loved.  More deets after she arrives....

@ bassman....you couldn't have joined a better bunch of folks than this bunch! Major MOJO going on here!  Like you, I'm a newbie and let my desires and request be made known.  Within 24 hours I was contacted by two different individuals with instruments to sell.  While those weren't precisely what I was seeking (too picky...?), I stayed with it and checked in here several times a day.  33 days after joining, Distillate enroute!  (Thanks for the CL lead, hammer!)

So, stay aggressive, positive and check in often.  Btw, Welcome!  Glad to have you.

Lastly, I did find a gorgeous (burl walnut)Distillate while searching the vintageandrare.com site.  The store is Bass Collection in the Netherlands, and the gentleman's name is Edwin.  Great guy!
I was dealing with the Euro/Dollar exchange rate and I didn't want to go that high.  Although he lowered his selling price, it came  to $3900 US, shipping included and, if money were not an object, I'd have the bass.  Lovely instrument, with the extended upper horn.

Anyway, now that we know your wish, we'll do our best to help you realize it!
