That Modulus is very cool. I wonder if I could convert it to a standard 5 string. I'm not too much into the 8 string thing.

Very cool bass, though it looks like the bridge saddles were poorly cut based on the inconsistent spacing of the strings.

I apologize, but I find the concept of buying a unique and unusual instrument like this to convert it to a five string offensive.

I saw it this morning too, trying not to think about it!

I think that the octave string on the A set looks like it isn't properly in the saddle, which could account for the uneven string spacing.

And +1 on not converting it! I would love to have another 8-string, since my Rickenbacker currently resides on the opposite coast, which is why I'm trying not to think about this one!

You're right, Harry; and the G octave isn't seated either.

Yes, It's so cool and very interesting 8 strings.
Body construction is just like Alembic with Graphite through neck !

Saddle issue are not so serious.
My only concern is the bridge PU (It's dead).
The PUs are original one off that I think.
I also worry about unknown active circuit.

I really should read the description before drooling over pictures :p, I don't have the money anyway but it's certainly a gorgeous bass, and if the pickup needs to be rewound that can be done relatively cheap by pros like Curtis Novak if whoever wins it gets a great deal on it of course, I'll request a picture of the control cavity so we can get an idea of what's going on in there

well he sent me a picture and it doesn't have Alembic electronics, just standard 2 volume 2 tone, he said the switch is a pre-amp in/out switch and that there are 2 battery connectors(guessing those are the wires that are hanging out of the picture)

Doesn't look like there is any screening in the cavity either. Anyone gonna pull the trigger on it?

It does look from the original pics that it may have a point at the bottom of the body from the way the lining is shaped.

From the look of the wiring, I'd say those are EMGs in there.

I'm guessing Geoff Gould was visiting Alembic and decided to build a bass.(?)

Modulus began life by building graphite necks for alembic before they made their own instruments.
