Excessive moisture
« on: June 12, 2011, 10:31:14 AM »
Friday night I had a show outside. There was a constant mist/ drizzle in the air. The stage was covered but there was no hiding from the damp.

I let my bass sit at room temperature out of the case for a day to make sure things could 'air-out'. Is there anything that I should watch for or do to insure that no damage is done?

If the fingerboard has been oiled regulary and there was no direct water on the bass then it should be fine.
Humidity is the enemy as it has heat and moisture

When I travel to locations warm and moist I always put silica packs in my case and leave it there when I am not using it. They are the same ones you find in new shoes or food packs. I buy them locally or have a friend at Adidas, get some for me. I hope this helps.

It's a Zappa reference. Is that a real poncho or a Sears poncho?

Also, beyond the Zappa reference, Knirps apparently makes some very fine umbrellas.

your more than likely fine, but let it air out like others suggested..maybe even open the control cavity and let that air out.

I once had a bass sitting in an area of my basement that was under the dishwashing machine....To say this particular bass got drenched is an understatement.  Let it dry out and never had an issue.
