Looks like this one has been upgraded from Series I to Series II electronics, its in the '89 catalogue as Series I (with what looks like Series II woodwork)

I'd say same bass. Look at the figuring around and to the right of the master volume (and especially near the Q control to the right of it). Looks too similar to be coincidence.

Also note it mistakenly says Deluxe body laminates in the '89 catalogue, corrected in the newer catalogue (Deluxe neck lams)
Bass has Series I body (5 piece) and Series II style neck (3 PH and side leds)
