I have played through one of these through a big pile of the Wall of Sound type speakers. I still own a few of those . The asking price is not outrageous for this unit considering the seller has had it serviced already ! . Bring a hand truck or a four wheel dolly if you purchase it !

I saw him play through that (and there were a bunch of yellow Anvil cases marked JA behind the stage) and he had those meters dang near dimed. Great show!

I've always wanted one of these, but my back is just not what it used to be.

Hah! I posted that before I checked out the link and sure enough, there's one of those yellow road cases!

I had no idea Keb Mo' was part of that scene. I wonder if he was playing on the show I saw.

Edwin , In my opinion the stellar aspect of the MC 2300 was it's ability to operate at very , very low load impedance ( .5 OHMS stereo !) . I played through one of these back in the day in a jam with a band that I was working with. The Bass player had one with two stacks of four Alembic/ Wall of Sound type Birch cabs each with a JBL K140. Four speakers to a side , eight speakers total, each with a 8 ohm load resulting at 2 ohms load per side . That load was no problem for the MC2300 because it was rated at .5 ohms per side ! Like WOW man ! THe aspects where the MC2300 does NOT interest me AT THIS TIME in technology #1 is The damping factor spec( and resulting sonic aspects reflecting that spec) #2 The terrible RCA connection input interface and its parameters and # 3 the weight factor .
My choice amplifier with weight factor still high is a CREST CA 12 , it cannot do .5 ohms but still seems like a such lovely beast to me !

I still have 4 Yamaha P2200 's and a Crown Macro-Tech 2400 ( it can do 2 ohms ) but those are for another discustion __________

I agree with you 100%. I love the Crest CA series, too. I had a CA9 for a while and it was great. But, I've moved to another department in the same company and play through a Peavey IPR 3000. Still lots of great sound, including some of the best low end I've gotten, and 8 lbs. My McIntosh MC2105, similar in some ways to the MC2300, was my home studio power amplifier for a long time, but it has been recently replaced by a Jim Williams modified Adcom 545 Mk I and the difference is astounding. An amazing sounding amp. It was OK before the mods, but I'd put it up against the sonics of almost any other amp out there and it absolutely slays the Brystons. OK, enough digressions. Here are some shots of the amp in question, for those who try to follow the link after the ad is gone. The last picture is Keb Mo' with the seller and some Alembic cabinets, with a 2300 peeking out.
