Stanley Clarke and Alembic Spoiler in Premier Guitar
« on: July 21, 2011, 08:01:02 AM »
The latest edition of Premier Guitar is out, and there is a lengthy article about Stanley Clarke that makes mention of his Alembics several times.  They also have an article about an Alembic Spoiler that is good, and they nearly got the details regarding the electronics right.   The entire content is free on the web, so its worth checking out if you have a moment.

Thanks Keavin. That's a great article. I'm going to have to read through it a few times to digest everything. I'm also having to suppress my inner pedant to refrain from mentioning the photo captions :-)

This is a nice site..an e magazine which is like a paper one.
I tell you I will still be playing electric bass when I am 60 years old..why..because I can't play upright LOL
Great article...I can't believe it was in the early 70's when all them fusion bands arrived on the scene, where has the years gone??

I've always been impressed with Premier guitar.  The fact that they give away all of their content for free on the web is astoundingly nice.  When I first subscribed to their paper edition, they allowed folks to choose how much they wanted to pay for a year's subscription.  Things aren't quite as flexible for the hard copies now, but they still have some of the best boutique content I've seen.

The guy mentions the Bigsby, yet he doesn't realize the bass he's looking at is one of the first basses with a graphite neck (and gorgeous Gaboon ebony top).  As usual with most journalists these days, he needs to do a lot more homework, imho.
