A gig ...at least ...BLUE STUFF!
« on: November 22, 2005, 12:01:04 AM »
Hi bro's and sis's it has taken some time but we did it again. Not THAT brillant but ...oh well ...we played! The location sucked and there were not to much people. BUT ...we had TELEVISION! I mean ...they were making a "reality serie" on a group of youngster going out on saturday night in Belgium. Hehehehe ...those boys and girls started there outing ...in the bar where we played. Curious to see myself on that little screen. (it seems it will pass on VTM on Thursday-evening "2 x anders". It will just be a SHORT fragment. Couple of pictures here!  Paul TBO

Looking sharp in that suit Paul.  Did Blue Stuff add a person? I was thinking you were a trio.  Very nice photos.

Get someone with a digital video recorder to record it for you when it airs!

Very classy brother Paul! But, something seems out of whack. Most of your band shots show Bonnie in all her glory. I don't see her. =( Hope she's alright. =)

Hi,

nope ...We always were a quartet: Luc on guitar and vocals, Chris on guitar and keyboards, Mark on drums and yours faithfull on drums.

Nice suit?
Yep ...it's my gigging suit. Mostly I wear a T-shirt underneat. I love to play in suits ...weird huh??? (But I REALLY have to loose some weight: I am at 200 pounds now And I should weight only 160 pounds ...the suit is really euh ...squeezy??????) Though I remember that scene in Crossroads when the young dude arrives at the hospital/prison room to get the old man out. He sees Willy coming all dressed up in suit:
Hey ...why are you dressed up like that for?
Answer:
Hey ...I'm a bluesman!!!!!! Now ... would you please help me with this tie.
HA!

Well Tom  ...ok ...you got me!
Bonnie is fine ...she really is: she got herself red side-lights, she got Red (the new red cable), she got new DR Red Devils and even a new bra (no-no ...a black one ...not red).
Though ...without going into details: I had to sell my Dynacord Poweramp: partly for spine problems, partly because I needed the money to pay debts (I went bankrupt as you probably know).
So Tweak Peaks is headless.
I use the SWR SM 400 (a real original one from the early 80-s) but I discovered that that amp is not working very good with Bonnie, not with any 5-string. Beware ...it could be my stupidity ...i dunno. I was so used to that SF-2, F1-X-PA combination.
So ...Bonnie stayed at home say the last half year. I'm in pain but ...well ...things will change eventually ...once ...
I need to buy a lightweight powerfull POweramp: QSC PLX, QSC Powerlight or MC2 or ...whatever. But ...well ...that good-old stockings story ...I will need to rob a bank  before that happen!

About the bass in the picture: bro's and sis's ...please meet A.
I will present her more in detail in another threat when I got the pictures ready, but her hart IS Alembic: she got a PJ Alembic pu combination with Volume Balance Filter Q-switch electronics. Build to my design and specifications by the Dutch luthier Ellio Martina.
GREAT bass! I have her about a year and a half now.
Details later and in another place ok??

squeezy That's a perfect description.  All of my clothes are squeezy.  I would love to get back down to 200.

It looks like Tweak Peaks is a couple of speakers lighter.  I see you switched from 4x10 to 2x10.  This might be a dumb question but can you run the SF-2 from the SWR?

Ahh, glad to hear that Bonnie is fine and enjoying a little sabbatical, lounging in her new redness.

Bonnie's electronic cousin, A, looks quite nice and I'll bet she sounds sweet as well. I look forward to learning more about her.

Hey Sam,

yep! I changed from 4x10+ horn to 2x10 + horn. Mainly for those same spine problems. The 1 x 15 + the 2x10 + horn is a powerfull and brillant combination. Both can handle a more or less 800W by 4 ohms. This in combination with a powerfull poweramp and the F1-X in bi-amp gives a fantastic sweet and hifi sound.

There is brother who had a SWR SM 400S in combi with the SF-2 ran through the effects loop and that worked very well.
Only: the SWR doesn't like the low B and the preamp easily goes into clipping.

Huh ...ok Sam if I have to start to die with a t ...let's do this together!

Paul, how far do you turn up the Aural Exciter? Most people seem to think it works like a +/-bass or treble control, but it's really a boost-only knob.

Start by turning the Aural Exciter down completely, see if that improves response on the B string - especially when playing at higher volume. Then open up the knob just a little bit, until the sound starts to wobble again.

So ...I can get Bonnie out of her closet again ...ifffffff it works allright!

Adriaan and Bro's ...we did it again! AND with the SWR SM 400 (the original beast) it wWORKED. Well ...I stil lprefer the SF2 and a Poweramp but ...oh well ...times will be changin'.  So here we are on a gig on ...a BOAT! Kind of river transport boat -we call it a "aak"- that was re-shaped in a kitchen/cooksession/partyroom. And we had a GREAT time! Fine concert! We didn't play loud actually but people star to dance in the end and I climed a stair and ..of well ...let's censor here huh ...???  Other gigs to come ...we are GIGGING! Come out of that closet Adriaan iff I can do it you do can too! All together I-V, I-V, I-V, I-V, I-V, ...  Paul the bad one

Hey bro Paul,

No t-shirt in these shots. You MUST be a bluesman! and boogie-ing the night away. I did a little walking blues myself last weekend. Enjoy yourself (do you have a choice when Bonnie is in your hands)
