I'm doing a gig with Musical Youth this Saturday night at Butlins Skegness.

I'll more than likely be taking my Orion guitar with the new filter &
Q-switch. So it will give me a chance to try it out on a large live stage.

have a good one Jazzy. I didn't even realise Butlins was still going. I have vivid recollections of a nightmare holiday in butlins Ayr when I was about 5.

I was hoping to make it completely through my life without ever going there. However Musical Youth get booked there often for their 80's weekends. So thats why we are there.

A drunk audience is not what I call an appreciative crowd. Hey ho, I guess thats a musicians lot. lol

I'll have a good time.
Have you heard any of Clarkees latest CD?
I listened to some preview tracts on Amazon. What I've heard sounds good.

I'm going to have a listen tonight now that I have broadband at home. Up to now I've been doing all my surfing at work but things like youtube and downloads from amazon are banned. I'll let you know what I think later.

Still haven't listened to the Amazon clips, I'll give it a go tonight. I'll almost certainly buy the CD anyway;-)

What I've heard sonds pretty ggod. It's very difficult to form a valid opinion based on 30 second clips but there seems to be a good mix of electric and upright playing. To my ears, all the electric sounds like it's been played on an Alembic which begs the question, why is the man endorsing lowenherz?

Jacko I agree with you in part but i've heard enough to add it to my collection when it comes to the shops.

the gig was fine. I did take the orion guitar with me that I recently added the filter and Q-switch to. The backline had a marshall rig so i guess thats good enough to test it out.

It made me smile how clean and crisp it was. The filter aopears to have more useful range when out of the confines of my living room. I'm sure the acoustics and soft furnishings take off the top end at home.

For now anyway the electronics are staying in the Orion.
Over drive on the marshall responded well to the guitar and I was pleased with it. I'm almost resigned to the fact that I will need to get a valve over drive/distortion pedal to get the sound I want for soloing.

I'd like to try a Mesa V-twin but none in the shops round brum to try out.
Got another gig on Friday in Great Yarmouth so will probably take it also.

Got another gig wit Musical Youth at Butlins, Bognor Regis this sunday 25th November 2007. Not sure what time we are due to be on stage but last time we did Butlins Minehead a few weeks ago it was midnight when we fired up on stage.

I've got my fender twin back from servicing so will take that along maybe with my Orion to give it a blast.

Still not found a V-twin, has anyone tried the Blackstar pedals? Apparently they are made by former Marshall guys.

I have a gig with Musical Youth at the Huddersfield Carnival this saturday 12th July. We are on the main stage sometime between 1 and 8pm. I guess since our name is last that we may be the last band of the night.

I will more than likely be taking my Alembic Orion guitar with me to this gig as It's not been out of the house this year plus it sounds great.

If you are going there let me know.

Wishing I could be there Jazzy- I'd love to hear the modern version of Musical Youth live. Pass the Dutchie!

BTW: Do those guys hate that song? I'd imagine it could be tiresome being known as the 'pass the dutchie kids'

haha, I'm not sure, they sure don't play it like they hate it.
I guess it's kept their name in the public eye and able to do what they do now so not a bad thing.

It's one of those songs they HAVE to play on every gig.

Marcus Miller on his DVD 'Master of all trades' says the same of Tutu. They always play it but that's because they love to play it. Shame the same didn't apply to Stanley last year - what did we get? aboout 2 bars of schooldays.

Nah we don't sing the Mighty Diamonds version of he song.
Just got back from the gig in Huddersfield. Was good. but a bit cold on stage.
