Kiss Me Kate

I'm playing in the pit for the Buffalo Community Theater production of Kiss Me Kate, July 21 - 30.

Pit # 98.

It looks like Pit # 99 will be whatever show the high school is doing this year (they can't tell me yet).  I may need to look outside of Buffalo, or # 100 might be Quilters or Annie (please, not Annie).

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy!  ;-)

Theater is certainly a different animal, for those who haven't had the pleasure of playing in a pit..

Have fun!

Have Fun! The cool thing about theater is that the musicians in the pit are usually different for every show, and you get to play and make friends with a lot of different people over the years. John. p.s. just got the word, going to get to play Hair early 2012.

I've done Hair, it's a very cool show.
It was done at the bar I was managing (The Maintenance Shop at Iowa State).  Several interesting things happened:

One of the guitar players in the pit didn?t really read music, and so had to essentially memorize the entire show.  This entailed a lot of extra rehearsals.  He came down with mono and missed the entire run.

The band spent the entire show smoking oregano cigarettes.

There is an optional nude (or semi nude) scene at the end of the 1st act.  We couldn?t do that and keep our liquor license.  That didn?t stop 1 actress from taking her top off, something I didn?t find out about until after the show closed.
