Hello,
A very sad thing happened to my SS graphite neck Series bass today. It fell out of the stand. I took the bass off, put it on the stand, didn't think much about it, and then it.... Hit the floor. First on the rear strap peg, then down onto the front on the concrete floor. OOOOOOUCH! Really sad as this bass was pristine, since coming from the factory about a year and half ago.... Sad. The only damage I can find is hit square on the nut on the forth string. It knocked a little finish off right where the nut sits on the head stock, on the side of the neck. In my endeavors of string changes etc. The nut appeared to be bonded to the head stock. That is not the case now. The nut came loose. It also appeared to have knocked the action down a little lower especially on the E string. I raised the bridge height about a turn because the E string was buzzing a little bit, where it didn't before. So here I am, a nut no longer bonded to the head stock, and a little bit of fractured finish. My first question is does anyone out there in Alembic land know anything about how the nut gets bonded back down? Cynoacrylate, thin epoxy? Or or or.... ALso is there a "standard height" that the E string should be over the first fret? My records show that before this happened the E string height was .032". Does that sound reasonable or or or..... Not sure if the pic came through but trying.... Very....
